Breaking News: We had an excellent 200 yd .22lr KD weekend at the Matamoras Rod and Gun Club, the finest facility this side of the Mississippi!  9 shooters came to the event-4 qualified-two ran out of ammo Early and didn't want to take our extra, but it was good working with them. Nine shot on day one, six on day two, 4 qualifications by the end.

Saturday was a zero fest with shooters proofing downrange using first the paper, then a 4 MOA piece of steel then a 2 Moa steel target.  We were very Zeroed! The group did all exercises presented in the new manual- two shooters Ethan and Kevin also performed accurate unknown distance ranging using their tech sights (4 Moa deflection and 35 Moa height post) following our calibrations from several measurement sources. We also cut the power in our scopes to 1/2 and calibrated those measurements-this works for all second focal - why do that? Most of us had duplex reticles and we needed more measurement for drop at 200- that exercise doubles the measurements on the reticles if done right. Ballistic charts, a chronograph class (ask us about that), and coordination of poa and poi resulted in 4 qualifications by Sunday. This was no easy event-sure, somewhere in the US there is sunny weather and no wind, but not here- our crew faced 15+mph, rain, mud, cold, and all manner of unspeakable conditions but soldiered on to success! The wind was a factor with all that flight time on the .22- still we were undaunted. Our secret? JillianM (iit3)‘s mystical and hot anti-hypothermic highly nutritional range meals (tm). These gave all shooters the warm inner core and happy faces with which we completed our day. Thanks Pat D, JillianM, Drifter52,  Ethan, Kevin, Bryan, the great DougG, John, and  Mark for about the best Year-End-Almost-frozen-22 LR-known distance shoot ever. Congratulations to all shooters for hitting everything but especially Mark, John, Bryan,  and Pat for their qualification on this .22lrKD- you make us all look good.  Great job, everyone!

Many thanks to our host for use of this range. MRGC has been a huge advocate of Appleseed over the years and we thank them for this continued support.  :F

See you over the winter months - ranges/dates TBD!
