It was a real privilege to be able to take part in the first ever Appleseed event at Alaska‘s hidden jewel, Cordova. Alaska is a huge place with beauty everywhere you turn ,but Cordova is something special. It's an isolated place that still knows the meaning of community and hospitality even during these trying times.The instructors were housed in a nice local bed-and-breakfast.Social distancing was maintained throughout the event. The weather in Cordova can be challenging at times and we had some concerns about it. But we were blessed by the rain holding off for the whole weekend. Amazing in  a place that gets 180 inches of rain a year.Folks from the club came out on the first day of the event to barbecue moose  burgers for us. They couldn't seem to do enough for us and were extremely supportive. The Mayor and Chief of Police both shot and a USCG Admiral made an appearance to listen to the strikes. The shooters were typical Alaskans.Patriotic, teachable,persistent and enthusiastic. Scheduling a shoot for next year was discussed and possibly a KD. Many thanks to Dick, Dan, Vivian, Clay and Rod for all the help making this happen.Also thanks to DiamondHead  and the DeLuca's. See you next year

Fantastic job out there in Cordova! I used to visit Alaska all the time when I lived in Anchorage (Alaska joke) and you guys are definitely making me miss it. I'm sure many folks don't realize the huge logistical challenges to putting on events in places like Cordova or Kodiak. For instance, the fact there are no roads to get to those places. You have to get there by plane or by boat! Anyway, great example of persistence and way to improvise, adapt and overcome. I hope I can get back to the "last frontier" to participate in one of your events soon! They look like the very essence of liberty and therefore Appleseed!
