Saturday got warm early and stayed that way. We are very fortunate at this venue to have a superb classroom with air conditioning that was very welcome. We held our Introductions and Safety briefing in there. Then it was off to shoot some Redcoats!  :---

After determining our baseline, the firehose instruction was opened up. We began with Sling Use and the Prone Position. After shooting a square to get used to the new concepts, we circled up to go over the first 3 Steps of Firing the shot.

Before we returned to shooting, we went over NPOA and carding the sights. Armed with the knowledge of what proper sight picture looks like and NPOA, the students returned to the mats. Instructors went down the line with foam and wrap, fitting rifles and carding sights. Once fitted and NPOA achieved, squares were shot to reinforce what we had learned.

Next, came Steps 4-6 (with an overall review) followed by a trigger reset exercise. Again, squares were engaged. Talking Targets and IMC was next before a much deserved break for lunch.

During lunch, we soaked up Air Conditioning and listened to the first 2 Strikes of the match. With bellies full we headed back out to learn about and try all 4 seated positions.  ~~:)   ;D  Next, we learned Rifleman's Cadence and did a quick exercise to reinforce it. With the sun cooking us, we retreated to the air conditioning once again to hear the Third Strike of the Match.

Renewed and refreshed, we learned the Standing Position and after a dry run, shot it live on Stage 1.

Next, we learned about transitions, did a dry run, then shot it live on Stages 2 & 3. Before finishing out the AQT. We went back inside one more time to hear about the Philosophy of Liberty of the Founding Fathers. We closed with presentations of the Luther Blanchard Patch. Thank you Young Patriots!

Last, was of course clean up and then some of the students joined us for dinner at the local Mexican place.

Sunday, we began with a short lesson on the Black Robed Regiment followed by another short one on 1776.

We then really kicked off the day with Safety review, rifle retrieval and a redcoat. We shot 1 AQT while everyone was still fresh.

Back to the AC for a full review. Six Steps, Sling Use, Prone Position, NPOA, Rifleman's Cadence, Seated, and Standing (In that order). We rolled right into lunch and heard some Dangerous Old Men Stories. Then it was back at it with some Ball and Dummy. We shot an AQT next before heading back in for the Known Distance presentation. Then we shot several more AQTs until we called it a day due to heat and exhaustion.

Congratulations to Matt, who shot 213, at his first Appleseed event! Huzzah Matt! Come back again and see us. You need to look into changing that hat color!

After a shooter had to unfortunately leave early, one of our instructors opted for some trigger time and requalified as well. Good job BooneCaudill!

To everyone else, please remember that a Rifleman persists and perfect practice makes perfect. Practice that and come back and see us, hopefully with some company. ;)

ALCON,

A Big Thank You to all our wonderful instructors! Isaac and I enjoyed it immensely, and are looking forward to coming to another event soon. Isaac has been busily describing his weekend to everyone and showing off his notes. We will definitely see you all again soon!

Please do! It was really cool to see 3 generations on the line together. (I wish I had gotten a picture of that, but we were all understandably busy). And Issac was a delight. His enthusiasm was definitely contagious.  ;D
