Hats off to the owners of V.E.T. Shooting Range in Bald Knob, Arkansas! They provided stands with backers and no range fee for the Project Appleseed on August 17/18.  Pat & Michael are true patriots. We had 5 shooters registered but, sadly, John G. was not able to come because of the passing of his mother 2 days before. Our sincere condolences to John and his family. In spite of a heat index reaching 108 degrees, all of the participants remained enthusiastic throughout the entire event on Saturday and Sunday. We were able to teach all of the fundamentals on Saturday, and review them on Sunday. We enjoyed also sharing the Three Strikes, sprinkled with some Dangerous Old Men and Brave Women stories. On Sunday we covered the very basics of KD and really appreciated the questions about the entire program by John. You would really look good in an Orange Hat, John...just one more Appleseed and then ask.
We were able to shoot many, many AQTs and ended with Jayhawker re-qualifying with a score of 219, and John M getting his Rifleman's patch at this, his first Appleseed with a score of 211. Huzzah! Stuart, Jennifer and Bill worked diligently, but it was just not to be for them at the event. But, with persistence, all of you have the potential.  We hope to see all of you back soon.  Thanks to all for agreeing to get started at 7 am on Sunday in order to finish at 2 pm and avoid much of the afternoon heat.  It was a real pleasure making new friends in the Arkansas instructor cadre as well as on the line with the shooters. You were all a real joy to work with, and I hope to see all of you again.

Thanks CokeGuy for coming this weekend and performing the SB duties. You're always welcome in Arkansas.
The shooters were great and participated in all aspects of the event. Great attitudes all around. Congratulations John on making Rifleman. You worked at it hard. Everyone else deserved something just for enduring the heat and attentively asking questions and working hard
"These a the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in the crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it NOW, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman."

Always a good time at V.E.T. Range in Bald Knob! Thank you CokeGuy for making the long journey. I enjoyed getting to work with you very much. Thanks to all the students. Your perseverance and great attitudes throughout were inspiring. Hope to see you again in September in Hot Springs! John, I agree with CokeGuy, you would look good in an orange hat. Give it some thought. Stuart, I'm confident you'll shoot a Rifleman score your next event. Bill and Jenny, you've got the skills, keep it up!  John G, very sorry for your loss, hope to see you again soon. Sticks, missed you Sunday. Looking forward to sharing the line in September!
