We completed another great Appleseed clinic at the Coshocton Gun Club in Coshocton, Ohio this weekend. Tweleve motivated shooters showed up Saturday morning ready to work on their Marksmanship skills. The weather was sunny  but not overly hot as we started the weekend.  This shoot was very much a family affair.  We had a father daughter team, a mother son team, three  father son teams along with other family members, and a husband/wife team.  All but me and Beth had family with them on the line.

Once all the shooters had arrived, we completed the normal welcome and moved to the safety briefing. Rifles were brought to the line and the Saturday morning Red Coats we shot.  Results showed we had a great bunch of shooters. Virtually the entire team put 3 in the 100 and about half did the same at 200. We even had three cleared Red Coats Sat morning! And, they were all Appleseed instructors who were here just to shoot.  Great job SirBob, Lozen and Chewie.

We moved to the steady hold factors in prone, followed by the six steps and NPOA instructions.  Related drills were shot and the morning moved on to shooting sighting groups and an IMC presentation.  We broke for lunch and the First Strike.

Final sights adjustments were made and confirmation groups were shot.

Next steady hold instructions in seated and standing were presented and were followed by related drills. The Second Strike and the Third Strike were presented at our afternoon break as there were thunderstorms in the immediate area that we had to keep an eye on before we returned to the line.  Once there, and we returned to the line for a practice AQT.

The day ended with the Saturday afternoon Red Coat which had results similar to the morning with three more cleared. This was followed by a call to action to all to get active in their local communities.

Sunday dawned just as sunny, a little more humid and a little warmer. The morning Red Coat was shot and the results were consistent with both Saturday Red coats.  We had 10 of 11 at 100, 6 at 200, 3 at 300 and 4 at 400, 3 joined Daniel Morgan and we had two more cleared. We then completed several NPOA/Rifleman's cadence drills and moved on to the AQT's.

The shooters were up to the challenge.  On our first AQT, all three of our instructors re-qualified (SirBob 224, Lozen, 219, Chewie 237).  We continued with another AQT before lunch.

After a KD lecture at lunch, we were back on the line for more AQT's.  We shot a total of five AQT's and had 14 qualifying scores.  We made two new riflemen, Calab 220 and Kendra 211. High score for the weekend went to Chewie who earned his distinguished patch with a 243. And, Mike stepped up to take an Orange Hat and join the team.  All in all a pretty great weekend of shooting.

We also had a couple folks knocking on the door.  Beth finished the day with a personal high score of 205.  Next time for sure.
The group finished the day with a the Sunday Red Coat where we had great results and  2 more cleared Red Coats making it 10 for the weekend.

Our thanks to the Coshocton Gun Club for hosting our event and my thanks to SirBob, Lozen,  and Chewie for helping me clear the line this weekend.  It was a pleasure to see  every one of you.

We look forward to our next event at Coshocton.
