Gray skies and rain greeted the Scouts and leaders of BSA Troop 779 of Kernersville, NC Saturday morning. Their leadership had insured that all the administrative tasks were completed prior to their arrival, so we quickly delved into our primary purpose, that of relating History, Heritage, and Marksmanship. Our first Redcoat of the day indicated that we had a long way to go, and the shooters eagerly approached their task of improvement with open minds and disregarding the occasional downpours on Saturday. The second Redcoat of the day showed marked improvement - proving that, yes, the Scouts HAD been listening, and were willing to practice what they had learned.

Sunday dawned with a gray sky, and the threat of severe weather hovered over the range. In spite of this, the shooters forged ahead, the morning's Redcoat proving that they had retained what they had learned the previous day, and their efforts engaging the AQT were absolutely commendable. Although no new Riflemen were minted during this event, all the shooters showed improvement across the board, and the Scouts thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Sadly, the event was cut a bit short due to the real probability of severe weather moving into the area; if we would have had an extra hour or two we had several Scouts that were within striking distance of their Rifleman's patch.

Overall, in spite of the very poor weather, it was a wonderful weekend filled with history, marksmanship, and good memories!
