Another sunny, but cold and windy day at the VETS Shooting Center! We started this cold morning(17 degrees) at 0900 with painting steel KD targets and also stapling some targets at 200 to verify zero with some new Frontier 75 grain BTHP's.

Shooting began at the 200 yard target, the new ammo didn't disappoint, this Frontier ammo is excellent, first five round group was just a hair over 1.5 MOA! I had to make an adjustment with a one MOA down elevation change and fired again, all five rounds in the 10 ring of the NRA MR52 target, looking good!

ArcEagle14 had good zero's with ammo, so started right off on the 300 yard target. This target is a 11"x 16" target, ArcEagle had no difficulty with getting center hits on this target, shot after shot. Then on to 400, this being a standard KD with no three ring, just the four and five represented. All hits, shot after shot. Next, the 500 standard KD, same thing, shot after shot with regularity! Now on to the 600, this is a much smaller target, not sure of the exact size, but ArcEagle hit it shot after shot with just a few misses, excellent marksmanship and knowledge of his rifle and scope!

After insuring good zero at 200, I went for the 300, 400 and 500 yard targets, my come ups were spot on, the Frontier 75 grain ammunition is excellent and at $8.60 per box of match grade ammo affords lots of practice!

We took turns spotting hits with a 20x60 power scope and called out hits and the location of the hits on the freshly painted steel. Calling out the wind and mirage is also part of the spotter's task.

After five hours of shooting, solving problems, speaking of liberty and Appleseed, we called it a day. The days rifle practice, considered a success.

As usual, if anyone would like to join up with a couple of ol' Appleseeders for some rifle marksmanship practice or need some marksmanship coaching, using reduced course AQT's or KDAQT, we will be glad to lend a hand.

Quinncannon, out.
