Beautiful Florida "winter" weekend. Dedicated staff.  Awesome students! This was an outstanding event!

Two new Riflemen and two requalifications. Kendall who hadn't shot a rifle in twenty years scored 219. Adam scored four times with a high of 228. Awesome! Redleg (Darren) and Sieggie (Dave) both requalified. Redleg, who is an IIT in Ohio, was visiting his uncle Kendall in Vero Beach. There seemed to be a bit of friendly rivalry going on between them to motivate the expert scores.

Our eleven year old Blue Hat, "Dangerous Young Lady," (Alicia) scored her all time best 170 for Sharpshooter and ten year old Kruise scored 165 at his second Appleseed to earn Marksman. All the students progressed steadily over the weekend and several achieved Sharpshooter to get in the strike zone for Rifleman. Remember the three key elements of precision shooting: Steady Position, Six Steps of Firing the Shot, and NPOA. Dry practice and return to kick it up next time!

Three IIT promotions. Planeman (Joe) to IIT2, Willociraptor (Will) to IIT3, and MaidMarian (Marian) to IIT4. Congratulations to all on your well earned promotions!

A very successful Appleseed indeed!

Tennessee Beast

It is nice to see pictures of Maurice, Alicia, and Joe.  I miss you guys.

Maurice...you are looking good in all that red.
Alicia...keep up the good work.
Joe...I like the new hat.
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge

Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains." - Patrick Henry

The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

"In the prevailing political theory of the founding era, the family was considered one of the essential pillars of republican virtue, and it not only needed to be nurtured, but also protected from the tyranny of the government.... American revolutionaries and their descendants understood marriage and the family to be schools of republican virtue. -Mary Lyndon Shanley, Review Essay, 27 Law & Soc. Inq. 923,
