Another successful shoot at Blue Trails Range in Wallingford! The weather was perfect Saturday for our 9 shooters who came from as far as Maine to learn about their heritage and improve their marksmanship.

We started the morning with redcoats and progressed quickly through prone SHF, the 6 steps, NPOA, taking a bit of extra time to double tap these points. When he hit the AQT's near the end of Saturday, Bill distinguished himself by pulling an immediate score in the 190's, showing that the dry firing practice he had done before the shoot really paid off.

Sunday morning came and we tightened the shooters' action screws as we got right into the first redcoat. The rain thankfully held off to give us a hotter but still great day for shooting. After a couple drills to help fine tune the shooters' trigger control and NPOA shifting, we got right back into the AQT grind where pat requalified with a 223, one of my favorite numbers.

Bill M and Brandon were scoring in the 180's/190's/200's, and I am confident they will take away a rifleman patch on their next shoot, potentially even with a distinguished bar if they are diligent with their practice!

Most of the shooters left earlier on Sunday, so all that remained were the friends Brandon and Bill C who shot right up until they ran out of ammo at the last redcoat, which Brandon cleared handily.

All the shooters this weekend demonstrated discipline and persistence, keeping safe with hot brass pelting them, sticking with it despite their scopes breaking and elbows hurting from all the time in prone. All All showed improvement in their marksmanship and I will be happy to see everyone on the line again in the future!

Thank you to my fellow instructors: Ron who helped out for both days, and Patricia who came to help out on Sunday.

Thank you also to Blue Trails Range for continuing to host us. They have a new website at https://www.bluetrailrange.com/ and they asked us to plug their junior rifle club, which can be found here: https://www.bluetrailrange.com/shooting-club-events/junior-shooting-club/
