Project Appleseed-Nebraska was welcomed back to the Lincoln Nebraska Izaak Walton League for the opportunity to reignite the spirit of our American revolution.

We had a total of 12 participants. All of whom were attentive and possessed the necessary attitude.

Saturday was hot and humid. High temperatures approached 100 degrees. Humidity was over 50%. Intermittent breezes offered some relief. Our shooters took the conditions in stride. The heat and humidity did slow down the pace of the course of instruction. We only managed to get in one timed AQT on day one.

Sunday was somewhat more tolerable. We were able to get through our review of the three positions, establish our zeroes and get into the AQT grind.

There were a couple of notable events during the shoot. The first is that we welcomed vette73 into the ranks of red hats. Vette73 is a very enthusiastic, and capable instructor. This in addition to his exemplary 7th stepping, makes him a true asset for the Nebraska program.

We were also able to welcome another Rifleman into the fold. Steve, made rifleman at his first Appleseed. His wife did the exact same thing at her first ‘seed in 2017. They must be doing something right in that household.

Also notable was that we had 14 year old, beginning shooter who shot a 203 on one of his AQTs! His seated form was on point. He also quickly picked up on the concept of NPOA shift. Knocking on the door at your first shoot at that age. That's something anyone should be more than pleased with.

Overall, a great group of participants without a single safety violation. This coupled with an excellent team of Appleseed hats made for a satisfying and successful shoot.
