Mr. Clean

We had a great shoot despite the stormy weather. But what does that matter with the covered firing lines thanks to the Fernan Rod & Gun Clubs wonderful facilities. We had 14 participants on Saturday and 9 returning for more on Sunday. This shoot went at a little slower pace than usual considering the high percentage of young (11 out of the 14) and new shooters on the line. The group from Priest River had some young aspiring riflemen 8, 9 and 10 years old. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had obviously been taught safe gun handling before arriving. Well done Mom and Dad, passing on this American tradition. Speaking of Dad, he was the one to become a rifleman with an impressive score of 233! Huzzah! Keep on that rifleman journey becoming a more engaged citizen, better American. To all the participants: Remember to dry practice at home, safety precautions! After you get your shooting positions down, NPOA checks and shifts smooth, mag changes efficient, come back to another Appleseed and see how you have improved. Check the Appleseed schedule for the dates and location nearest you. At Fernan, we have Known Distance Appleseed shoots July 7-8 and Nov 3-4 which is the next step after going to a regular AS event, especially after shooting a rifleman score. Also the next regular AS is October 6-7.
