Five great Americans (skipped work?) to attend a Week-day One-Day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at the Berwyn Rod & Gun Club (BRGC) in Bowie, MD.

One-day events are challenging enough, time-wise, but the Shoot Boss (yours truly) got stuck in traffic... a commute that should have took an hour and twenty minutes, took two and-a-half hours.  So, with a little bit of a late start, we dove right into the introductions, safety brief, and started shooting the first Redcoat target!  One of our shooters had never handled a firearm before, so she received close instruction from Aninha, and all her shots were on paper!  We then moved onto Prone Steady-Hold Factors (SHF) and putting sighters on the Squares target, and after the groups came together, we taught them Inches, Minutes, Clicks (What's an MOA?).  As we'd modified the schedule to catch up, we broke for lunch and told them the real reason they were there - to hear the story of April 19th, 1775!  After lunch, and hearing the first two strikes of the match, we went right into Standing and Seated/Kneeling SHF, transitions, and we then moved into our first practice Appleseed Qualification Test, and then a real one.   After the telling of the Third Strike and wrapping up the history, we then did our last Redcoat of the day.  Jim T. requalified with a 234 (Iron sights).  Great job Jim!  Several other shooters were close!

It was a challenging day, very windy, with lots of debris being blown around, and a lot of it winding up collecting in the actions of the rifles. I'm pleasantly surprised we didn't have many malfunctions. Great job on everyone's part, as the attitudes were great & teachable, and everyone had fun.

Also, congratulations to PB4Y1 (Chuck), who completed his Instructor In-Training (IIT) and earned his Red hat! Huzzah!

"Skipping work" sounds kinda bad - no one accused Isaac Davis of "skipping work" when he took the Acton militia to confront the red coats (although, maybe that detail is in the two day Appleseed).

How about: "Celebrated Freedom from Tyranny in our Daily Lives"  :)

Great shoot as always. The instructors were working overtime to help new folks and maintain safety. Looking forward to the next one!
