This was my first IBC to run. Thanks to Morpheus for giving me the opportunity under his watchful eye. We had 5 enthusiastic students (4 IITs; 1 AC), four of whom I had had the privilege of presenting their Orange Hats. I am so proud to see their commitment to the program! We began at 8 am on Saturday by reviewing and discussing the Appleseed Mission and selected Guidelines. We then developed a list of Instructor positive attributes that students had seen, and we encouraged them to incorporate them as they work events. Morpheus then shared the dress, appearance and professionalism expected at all Appleseed events. After a review of the "verbatim material", Morpheus shared what makes a good history presentation and how to prepare for telling a Strike. The rest of Saturday was spent by first demonstrating, then practicing the proper shooting positions, NPOA, SHFs, Talking Targets, and IMC. Because we had a small number of students, we were able to do all practice as a group. We closed the day with a meal together at a local Mexican restaurant and took time for fellowship and a review of the day.  Because the following Monday would be President's Day (Washington's birthday-Feb 22), we started Sunday by sharing a story about an Indian chief seeking out the 23 year-old Washington to tell him of how he had tried in vain to kill him at the battle on Monongahela by ordering his warriors to all aim at the general. Washington had two horses shot from under him and had 4 musket ball holes in his uniform, but was uninjured. The chief then informed him that he had told his warriors that "the Great Spirit protects this man and his destiny", and that Washington would "become a chief of nations" and be hailed as "the founder of a mighty empire." Then Morpheus delivered with his usual passion the "Patrick Henry speech" and told us he had recently done the same at a Sons of the Revolution event where the great (5x removed) grandson of Patrick Henry was in attendance.  Students repeated the "verbatim materials" and then practiced again teaching positions, NPOA and SHFs. During the course of the IBC, all students were able to serve as a model and as an instructor. Next, they presented their assigned Strike segments. Luke2236 did an outstanding job of sharing almost all of the First Strike... much more than his assignment. 6Bones presented details of the events at the North Bridge, and ChristaClayton did a great job of describing the actions of generals Percy and Heath during the retreat. Akela61 shared with us the carnage at Menotomy. All impressed us with their preparation and delivery! Morpheus then explained typical rifle problems on the line (10/22; AR; M1) and possible fixes. We were able to work one-on-one with students by having them teach IMC to an assigned instructor. Then, we finished the day by having students individually identify problems on the line as instructors modeled the various positions and potential shooter mistakes.
Many thanks to Morpheus, 76Patriot, Roswell, cipher and, on Sunday, Red Niva for making this a great IBC!

Huzzah! It sounds like you all had a great IBC. Congrats to the new IITs. You had a real treat between CokeGuy & Morpheus. I've heard that same Patrick Henry speech; it's worth the price of admission all by itself.  :F
