A fine crew of Naval Seas Cadets sailed into the Hernando Sportsman's Club November 11-12 to honor our founders and carry on the American tradition of marksmanship. Fourteen Cadets and recruits were joined on the line by two young military men and five adult leaders and parents. All were hard working and attentive. This was one of the safest and most efficient shoots I've seen in my time. The day began with formation and Pledge of Allegiance to The Flag and then promptly to work on skills and history. For fun they each got to shoot M1 Garands with a full clip. Lots of big smiles followed. When the dust had settled we had one Cadet requalify as Rifleman with scores of 212, 216, and 218. Huzza, Trey! We hope to see you in an Orange hat at the next event. Luther Blanchard patches were well deserved for the Cadets who all kept up with the grind and were still smiling at the end of the weekend. Excellent job gentlemen!

We had a great staff who know very well what they are about: Shootboss alkeford, Instructors stoneknives and TheMenace, with IITs Steve31889 and BaldEagle. Special thanks to Steve's lady, Denise, for helping with admin and equipment logistics. Saturday we were glad to have PHenry stand in as Shootboss while alkeford attended HSC mandated Range Safety Officer training to ensure our continued good graces. We were also blessed with a cameo appearance by Three'oEight who jumped in to help score targets during the Grind and help wrap things up Sunday as dark swiftly brought an end to our glorious Veteran's Day weekend.

We owe a special thanks to CO Arnold and ACO Pickard for arranging the event for the Manatee Division of the NSCC and bringing us together.

This is definitely one for our posterity. Hope to see many more like it in the future.
"We have always looked upon men as a set of beings naturally free - that a people can never be divested of those invaluable rights and liberties which are necessary to the happiness of individuals, to the well-beings of communities or to a well regulated state, but by their own negligence, imprudence, timidity or rashness. They are seldom lost, but when foolishly forfeited or tamely resigned." ~Jonas Clarke

What a great weekend and what a fine group of junior, active, and retired and retired military we had the pleasure of teaching the American tradition of marksmanship and our heritage to. It was truly a pleasure to work with such a fine group.
