Project Appleseed returned to Grand Island Nebraska's Heartland Shooting Park to immerse five patriotic Americans in the history of April 19, 1775 and their heritage of rifle marksmanship.

The skies were overcast for most of Saturday, but the temperatures near perfect.  John and Barbara were returning attendees looking to further improve their shooting skills. Clint, Canton, and Nick were first timers and eager to learn the art of positional rifle shooting.

The second red coat on Saturday was evidence of just how far everyone came after eight hours of instruction.  Additionally Clint had a very respectable showing in stages one, two, and three of the AQT. With some improvement on stage four he would easily obtain the Rifleman patch. This was done with a 50 plus year old iron sighted rifle, whose sights were minimally adjustable.

Unfortunately a thunderstorm that blew through the area in the small hours of Sunday morning took out the campsite of three of our shooters, who decided to pack it in and drive home. Our other two shooters decided to stop due to health reasons after two hours on Sunday morning. This meant the event was cut short by several hours.

All in all, it was a good shoot. The attendees all had teachable attitudes and were receptive to the instructor's suggestions.
