The Great Falls Shooting Sports Complex held its first Appleseed of the year at their 50 yard outdoor range. We couldn't have asked for better weather, participants, or facilities. Special thanks to Dave for hanging all those flyers in the week leading up to the shoot, and for giving us a shoutout on the local news!

Our two shooters, Rich and Scott, made great strides over the weekend. Watching each of them have an "a-hah!" moment and watch their groups shrink sure made me proud. Little achievements like that are the reason I keep instructing Appleseeds.

Rich and Scott: You're both within striking distance of a Rifleman patch. Your standing stage, and prone slow-fire stages are excellent. Spend time at the range practicing your transitions, especially your transition to seated. Either one of you could shoot a rifleman score with some practice just on the seated stage. Remember the dry fire-live fire practice loop I talked about? Do it. Spend a few minutes a couple times a week transitioning into the seated position, finding your NPOA, and dry practicing. Do this with an unloaded rifle and do not have any ammunition in the same room where you are practicing. Then go to the range and strike some primers. Find what works and what doesn't in your dry fire. Adapt your dry fire training to the feedback you receive from live fire. I am confident both of you will be getting a patch with a little work before your next Appleseed.

Scott, it was great seeing you again. Rich, it was a pleasure meeting you. I hope to see both of you at another shoot (Hopefully the KD one in August!).
