Twenty-two shooters spent their Memorial Day weekend at Strategic Edge Gun Range in Chapel Hill, TN.  The weather forecast was threatening for both days, but we made it through the entire weekend with only a couple of sprinkles.

Out of the 22 shooters we had 5 new Riflemen:  Brittany, Joshua, Dan, Andrew, and Ben; and 3 repeat Riflemen:  Bernie, Jared, and Braden.  Congratulations everyone!  ^:)^ ^:)^

I'm sure many of the others will shoot their qualifying scores soon -- remember, a Rifleman persists!

We had a special presentation at lunch on Sunday where woodstock16 brought three Revolutionary period rifles for show and tell along with a few accoutrements.  Dracomeister also gave rousing presentations about Dangerous Old Men and a couple of Dangerous Women.  :)

On Sunday morning we held a memorial volley to remember those who gave the last full measure of their devotion to preserve our liberty.

A couple of pics are posted here.  More can be found at the following link:

It was great to see everyone on the line, students & instructors alike. Thank you to Google for a well-run event, and thanks to Google, Max Ordinate, & DonD for the mini instructor class on Friday.

Congrats to the new Rifleman, and allow me to encourage everyone who came out to shoot. You've all made huge improvements; give yourselves credit, and keep going! Now that you have the knowledge, practice the skills at home. Sometimes it takes trying things out when you're away from the noise of the firing line for something to "click".

I hope to see all of you again at another Appleseed! Also, check out the schedule & sign up for a "KD" event. Now that you've shot our course at 25 meters, the next thing is to shoot the real thing at real distances.  O0

P.S. Jared made a neat discovery this weekend: An advantage to being the only one shooting a 30 caliber rifle on your end of the line is that you can tell which holes are yours, even when your neighbor decides to "help you out" & shoots your target.   ;D

It was an absolute pleasure to work with all the instructors and shooters last weekend, you guys and gals rocked!! O0 It was really special for us Orange Hats to be able to work and learn under the tutelage of dond, Max Ord, bluegrasscolonel, and Google. It's not often one in training gets the opportunity to be observed, critiqued, and encouraged by the folks who literally wrote the book  :1luvu.

Big Congrats to all the new and re-qualifying Riflemen!!. ;) If you didn't quite make Rifleman, don't despair. Persistance pays, practice and dry fire, you will.

For those who want to delve a bit deeper into the history, our heritage, and to fill out the three strikes of the "Story" from the weekend, read Paul Revere's Ride by David Hackett Fischer and The Minute Men by LTG (Ret) John R. Galvin. There is so much more to the history of April 19, 1775, that due to the time constraints of the weekend goes unsaid that we owe it to our forefathers and mothers to know the rest of the "Story". Hope to see you all on the line down the Appkeseed trail O0.

Fantastic bunch of Shooters, great location, and like Woodstock said, how often can you learn from the folks that wrote the book!

Had a great time working with the various shooters, some made it, others got REALLY close ... don't give up, the Patch will be yours eventually! Congrats to our newest Orange Hat, the future will remain bright as long as our youth continue to value freedom!  :F

Figured out pretty quickly that I need to attend the IBC in August ... old memory just ain't what it used to be!  :shootself:

What a great event! Google did a great job as shoot boss and the weather was good despite the initial forecasts. There was a lot of strong shooting with a lot of Riflemen and a lot of people who were very close.

Hopefully the ones who were close will attend another Appleseed soon and get their patch. As an IIT it was a great experience to work with the redhats there and see how it's done. Overall, it couldn't have been much better. Thanks to the Instructors and shooters who made the event happen and to Strategic Edge for hosting it.
