I am trying to organize a list of every newspaper web calendar, blog, or other website you might submit shoots to, for promo. Ya'll are doing promo, right?  :wb:
I know it takes time and doesn't always get much results, but if the alternative is doing nothing at all, then we need to have a better game plan. For Myakka alone, I have at least 13 different places I submit shoots to, on the web, and yet I know there must be more. The goal here is to build a database and get our core of blue hats (and other hats who want to help) involved in a concerted effort to increase our presence in local newspaper event calendars, blogs, event pages and more. Linked below is a google map of our regular Appleseed ranges and the city where each blue hat lives. I'm beginning to add in newspapers & other sites with event calendars, but I need more. It'll take more time than I have to do this alone. With your help (anyone can help), we should be able to make short work of this and actually get an organized effort happening in our state. If you have some spare time, please link whatever sites you find here, so I can add them to a spreadsheet.

They are seldom lost, but when foolishly forfeited or tamely resigned." ~Jonas Clarke

Here is a link to the Google map I've been working on. It currently contains the location of every range we use regularly and the city of each of our blue hats, shoot bosses, and red hats who have run events in FL recently.

The goal is to add links to local newspapers that maintain online event calendars and other similar sites with event pages & more. No matter which hat color you have, I'd be happy to get your help with everything from dropping off flyers to posting events. To be added to the map, all you have to do is ask (I don't need your full address, just the city you live in)

Once we can view the logistics of this project more clearly, the goal is to divide the work into a number of volunteers, by region. Hopefully, anyone who becomes responsible for a region will have 1 or 2 volunteers helping out (because you should always be training your replacement or you might get busy one month and not have time to do submissions)

I know a few of you are already doing some of this stuff and that is awesome. Now we just need to pick up some momentum, get organized and make easy work of this stuff.

If you are a shoot boss and are having trouble getting people on your line, speak up and we'll get someone on the case to help you out.

Nice work on the map sir, for the area around me I usually send and email request to the St Augustine record and our local news source to tell them of our events and see if they want to send a field reporter out to observe, possibly take a few shots and do a write up. They have yet to respond with any interest:

Chris, It looks like the StAugustine.com website also has an event calendar. Just have to set up a simple account.
Link: http://events.staugustine.com

Here are a few other online calendars that allow submissions in that area (though I haven't tried any of these yet if you want to give it a go):

https://www.palmcoastgov.com/calendars

Then, of course, there are sites like Yelp, Eventful, eviesays, etc., some of which are interconnected with other online calendars and search tools.

This is a map you can use to help you target areas for promo. As you can see, we are blessed with a great coverage of ranges here. Imagine, if we could add something in Panama City and Fort Myers/Naples, we could easily reach the entire population of Florida. With so many ranges at our disposal, there is so much potential here, but we all need to put a little more effort into promo.

While we certainly need volunteers to come out and help us on game day, what we AREN'T doing the rest of the time is just as important to the success or failure of this program. What we need, most of all, are more shooters on the line. I know a lot of us probably waste a lot of time on the internet, following one rabbit hole after another, in a forest of cat memes and political ranting. All I'm looking for is for more of us to commit as little as 1 extra hour a month, finding new places to submit events.

For advertising to work, it needs to be in more places. When we see something one time, it's easily forgotten. When you see something interesting and it keeps popping up in random places, at the very least it begins to spark our curiosity. Just like our three strikes of the match, getting people off the couch takes a little more effort. If you want to help, send me a PM and we'll get this thing moving.

Three'oEight- We think this program of yours has real potential. We are watching with interest to see its level of success. If your team can make this a success, then perhaps it can serve as a model for a nationwide initiative. Good luck!

I know that the GOA is a good resource for media contact info. If u go to their website and look for the action tab - they always used to list every media outlet in a given area.

I know when I was doing press releases for a RBC in NC, I simply googled "newspapers NC" or "magazines NC". I found more than I had time to email a press release to.
