Folks, there are some very knowledgeable gunsmith/match armorer members over there who have started some regular "conversations" about various aspects of repairing/accurizing M1A/M14 rifles.  I don't know if you have to join to read them or not.  However, many of the process they discuss are simple and easy for any of us to do to our own rifles.  They discuss the reason for the modification, their various experiences with rifles they've modified and it makes for some very interesting reading if you're the type who likes to do what you can to your own rifle.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

I've been on there a long time. It's a good site. O0
