Recent legislation in WI

  I have often heard Triggernick quoted that

not only should you know your representatives names and contact information, but they should know yours.

In that vein, this is a short (and non-comprehensive) list of some topics that may be worth reaching out to your representatives about.  A 3-minute email, letter, or call can work wonders.

• Senate Bill 729 - Adds a microstamping requirement for handguns - http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2015/proposals/REG/SB729
• Assembly Bill 960 - Adds a 20% tax to firearms and Ammo to pay for Gun Buybacks - http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2015/proposals/REG/AB960
• Senate Bill 766 - Requires all firearms transfers in Wisconsin to go through an FFL - http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2015/proposals/sb776

Not everything that has been going on recently has been negative from a gun-owner point of view.  For example

• Assembly Bill 844 - Excludes gun safes from Sales and Use Taxes - http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2015/proposals/REG/AB844

If you need to identify who your representatives are, going to http://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/ and putting in your address will give you both your senator and assembly representatives contact information.

I would recommend, if you want to be informed when new bills affecting our rights are introduced, etc. that you may want to use the WI Legislative Notification Service (https://notify.legis.wisconsin.gov) to notify you by email when new bills are introduced/as they progress (It can also be used to find out what your representative is putting forth, to either thank them for it, or call them on it).
