Has anybody used an ATI kit to build an M4?

Has anyone used one?  The prices look good, I'm wondering about the quality.  Thanks.

I just read some reviews looks like you better stay away from them. Plastic AR's mass produced for the shortage a couple years ago  looks like to me. You can build  one (all forged aluminum) for about the same money through PSA and a few others.

If you are wanting polymer for some reason, go with TN arms co. There are metal inserts for the buffer tube and grip attachments. Ati has had some problems, I would avoid them. I did have a New Frontier lower that worked fine and sold it. A FFL buddy told me they started having lots of quality issues when they ramped up production after Sandy hook and stopped carrying them.

The last two forged lowers I purchased cost less than $40, there really isn't a cost reason to go polymer anymore. Unless you're trying to build a 5lb gun, stick to forged.

PSA is out of stock at the moment but they sell assembled forged aluminum lowers with Magpul MOE grip and stock for around $170. Mid length uppers with FN manufactured, hammer forged barrels + BCG and charging handle for $430.

I have the same thing with carbine gas system and it shoots straight, never malfunctions. A much better use of your money, IMO.

Watch for the lowers to come back in stock. Get one and then buy the upper of your choice as funds allow.

Now who can argue with that?

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't looking at polymer.  The kit I saw had an aluminum flattop upper.  I did end up ordering a PSA premium kit with an FN barrel.  I've heard the only problem with PSA is the wait.  Thanks again.

PSA is a good choice.  I built several rifles with their parts, and have never been disappointed in the quality.  Yes, their slow shipping can be annoying, but you know what they say...reliable, cheap, fast... pick 2.  My latest builds have been done by ordering parts here and there whenever they are on sale, so a little slow shipping doesn't bother me too much.

I wouldn't use the ATI kits for anything with a remotely serious purpose.  And with PSA's prices, it doesn't make sense for ANY purpose really, when you can have a fully mil spec PSA for little to no more.
