MR B (549)

I love teaching at this range . It's a beautiful drive up the canyon to a great spot nestled high above Santa Barbara with some spectacular views on the way up and down . We had some fine Americans show up over the weekend and I am proud of all of them for their persistence and attention to detail and above all for having a wonderful and safe shoot .
Returning shooters Anne , Barry , and Aaron got back into the swing of things and showed great results throughout the weekend and were hammering out great groups .....Keep it up you guys are real close .......

First time Shooters Alelhy and Mark got down to business with their Ar and Sks rifles and were superb at overcoming some challenging lessons from the firehose . !!!! Hope that shoulder is feeling better Alehy !!!

We also had a new shooter Matt show up and was sooooooooo close all weekend to getting patched in ....I'm sure with a little practice we could see you getting over the hump !!!!

Joanna and Jason did well getting used to the Rifleman's Yoga and It was so awesome watching Joanna's groups shrink with every COF !!! We missed you guys on Sunday , hope to see you both soon !!!!
Kevin and Lauren also performed outstandingly well and we hope that they'll be back to claim their patches !!!!! I hope that you both had a great time .

A special thanks to Leewhey for helping out the other shooters . Leewhey has been a great asset at our shoots and I see an orange hat in her not-so-distant future !!!!!!

MVP (Most valued Parent ) award goes to Andy for bringing his son Jacob to the shoot . This young man was so well behaved and enthusiastic all weekend and persisted and kept going with a wise resolve throughout the shoot . I am so proud of his Dad who told me with great conviction that his son "Needed to learn this " and who brought so much encouragement to his son . Jacob is our future and its important to pass on our mission to him . He was awarded the Luther Blanchard patch for his endurance !!!!! A true Son of liberty!!!

Lastly we have Mr Bret , who after refusing any shade from the sun and cover from the rain on Sunday , persisted and kept at it , AQT after AQT until he pulled out a score of 213 !!!!  ^:)^

Thanks to Steve and Ryan for helping out and making this a very well put together and entertaining shoot ....

Everyone did an amazing job and were super attentive at every step and I hope that the stories and history will inspire you to come back and bring a friend and if nothing else to spread our  simple message of liberty .
Thanks

B

Mr B is correct! This is a very cool range tucked in the Los Padres forest above Santa Barbara/Goleta. The first drive up has you wondering if you will ever get there, but once there, the hill top range and the drive is a joy.

To the people I shared the line with most:
Kevin and Lauren: you guys were dialing it in, you'll get there soon. (Kev, I actually put my regular glasses on to shoot rifleman)
Matt of the effective range of two continents. Thank you for your service. I hope to be there when you get you're score.
Leewhey: Ryans a lucky guy, and I'm on his side in regards to that scope, Or would that be lack of...
Barry: I came home and told my rifleman kid, there was a really cool guy in the middle of the line with great slow fire. He was just so cool.
Andy & Jacob: To me and my son, appleseed is about family, appleseed is about tradition, appleseed is about marrying the past to the future...ya'all got that.

To the cadre of the Winchester gun club...

Ryan G-Fresh! (yes, my AQT says G-Fresh!): Loved seeing, hearing, feeling your springfield, I'm jealous. Your teaching/observation skills are on the edge of phenomenal. (where's your trigger finger? I like your leg up this time) Your clock reading skills, oh well...

Steve I'm from Ventura, call me Ventura Steve: Thanks for the emergency armorer skills (I still have one of your punches). Thanks for the coaching me about slowing me down...I came home and shot a 45 on stage 4....slowly.....thanks for always asking me  the right questions...

Brian  Mr. B: Well Boss, you run a great show. When I first got to Winchester, my first thought was how is this Irishman going to present the 3 strikes, benediction, etc....  Well.....He does it in exemplary fashion!!!! You inspire and ignite the passion of the patriots interweaving your own personal story....It's soooooo cool...  Your sense of humor throughout the weekend kept it light yet focused. Your ability to ask about and sense our anxieties and support our learning is very astute. Thank you for the 1 last AQT...

Loved seeing the fog, in the morning, feeling the rain by noon, and feeling the beating of the sun in the afternoon. Who needs a stinking cover? When I'm ready to drive south again, and if you'll have me, I will see you with my Orange Cap...

Reading B's post from this weekend put a HUGE smile on my face remembering this weekend.  The range truly is in a beautiful location.  I hope you all enjoyed the shoot and will take a little bit of it forward with you.

I'd like to share a few pictures to help remember the weekend.  Enjoy!!

Peace my friends! Have a positive influence on the world and those around you. You can only do this if you have the freedoms to do so.

I want to thank Brian, Steve and Ryan for running a great Appleseed.  Your humor and patience is appreciated.

For all the students who attended, I enjoyed spending the weekend with you.  I was impressed with the safety and concentration you all demonstrated.

I look forward to my next Appleseed.  I hope to add a scope to my 10/22 and see what I am able to do.  Perseverance, right?

Until next time...
