I worked with a great team of instructors this weekend and we had a super group of shooters.  Everyone followed line commands and safety rules.  While we didn't get any new riflemen, we saw a lot of improved scores and heard about some ah-ha moments from new and experienced shooters.  Our history tellers made the stories come alive.   Great job, Shooter 30.06, Rifles and Reins, and KD Cat!  O0 I want to thank everyone for coming out to shoot and learn about our heritage.  Couldn't ask for a better weekend!

Good time.  I think the majority of those present had been to GSL Defense Training courses before (or their parents), but that's great.  People are taking us up on our recommendation to go to Appleseed to continue their training and these dozen plus folks had a great time, with great weather, doing so.

I saw some Rifleman shooting on Saturday, sadly for Terry, he shot his perfect second half of his sitting AQT on his neighbor's target.  She was thrilled, of course.  He?  Not so much.  He would have had an impressive >230 without that.  Whoops.

Regrettably I wasn't able to make it Sunday, but hope ya'all had a great time.

The success of this shoot, year in and year out, continues to be a source of pride for Guns Save Life after we brought Appleseed to Illinois many years ago.

We as Guns Save Life (I'm serving as president for the current term) are proud to pick up the $600 in range fees for this event to host it at one of the best outdoor ranges in Illinois.  It worked out to about $50 per shooter this weekend, but it was worth every penny.

Here are some pix:

The group present, sans Mutti.  Where were you for this picture?

The instructor crew Saturday.  Nice having a good turnout of high-quality instructors.

When you have eight instructors on a line, you can have lighter moments as an individual.

Plenty of one-on-one instruction offered!

This girl, Hope, competes at Action Pistol (including the Bianchi Cup) and in three-gun.  She's got the potential to be the next Tiffany Piper or Jessie Duff.

I need a hook up for a Blaze Orange RWVA boonie hat. I have had to have one spot burned off my arm this year. I don't need anymore on my neck, nose, or ears. Anyone got a source?

Hi all,

This was my 3rd shoot in Bloomington, and what can I say? It just keeps getting better! The attendees were safe, persistent, and a bunch of fun. I was overjoyed to see several familiar faces in the group. Nice to know that you guys like us enough to keep coming back. We had a variety of rifles on the line this weekend. 10/22's, some AR's,  Marlin 795, and a .22 tube fed rifle (cannot recall the brand off the top of my head). I also got to see my first $4000 rifle.

As for the Instructors.....what a bunch of good people. I always enjoy working with the Central Illinois crew. Yes, for those wondering, our "Land Shark of Liberty" made it through the shoot. He is also looking forward to next year's appearance. The LSL is residing happily with Janeir.

I would like to thank GSL for openly supporting Appleseed here in Illinois and for picking up the Range Fees. It was greatly appreciated.  Also side note here, thank you Templar223 for running out to get lunch Saturday. And for taking some very good pictures.

Templar223, Mutti, KD Cat, Shooter 30-06, AK, Janeir, and TheEditor, I can not wait to work with you all again.

Until next time,

KD Cat

Hello,

I would like to first like to thank GSL for sponsoring this shoot. This was my first shoot at Bloomington, and to be honest I was a little nervous. Though that disappeared as soon as I met you all! Saturday started of cool and slightly windy, with a turn out of 13 shooters. Everyone was very eager and persistent all though the day. Sunday was busy the weather was suppose to turn rainy at 2:00 pm , thankfully it did not. The morning redcoats, squares and AQT's seemed to go by very quickly! Over lunch Mutti gave us a awesome and very informational KD presentation. After going out and working on KD, a few more AQT where able to be shot. Over all this was a very safe group, and I think that everyone took home a new tool in their tool box!

Thank you all for a wonderful shoot, and I hope to see you all again.

See you on the trail,

KD Cat ^:)^

A great weekend. Connor you sure held in there like a champ! Even with the initial issues with your Rifle/Sling - you continued without a single complaint. Seeing Fathers/Sons, Husband/Wives and old Friends from previous events all interact to become a tight Group by the end of Sunday was a joy. GSL again provided a haven for those who love Liberty to continue discovering more about themselves. Bravo Zulu - especially templar223.

Photos forthcoming - however until then - keep practicing and remember these Groups from 100 yards. Outstanding folks.

Every year this is a very nice shoot and this year was no exception.  Thanks go out big time to Guns Save Life for their sponsorship and support of Appleseed.  I want to also thank and compliment a very nice group of safe, dedicated, and patriotic shooters who listened intently to both the history and range commands.  Last but not least let me say what a pleasure and privilege it is to get to work with such a talented and personable group of Instructors.  There are some in the program who discount the importance of personal relationships in terms of the impetus to volunteer.  Let me respond by saying the wonderful time I have working with shooters and instructors like these is what keeps bringing me back.  Thanks to Janir for coming down to work the shoot and to Andrew and Kat who came with him.  The Wisconsin group rocked.  Finally, thanks to Templer223 for hosting our Saturday night dinner.  I just do not believe all the bad things I hear about you. :)
