There are no shoots scheduled in WV.  There are instructors in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland that should be able to help out.  If you hold it, they will come.  There have to be ranges that would work.  Reach out if we can help.

I'd come from eastern Ohio, too.

I went to the shoot in Mechanicsville, VA, last weekend to get my feet wet (that's a joke - it rained, off-and-on, all weekend). Great experience and great staff and student cohort. I learned I don't have the stamina (due to age and health) to be an active instructor or staff, or even finish the test, but can probably help in other ways. I'm looking forward to learning what other options are possible - I'll start talking to range owners and my club's BoD about hosting something in the future. There are certainly lots of Border Raiders volunteering to come to WV and help.
Thanks to the patient instructors, I came away with some skills I didn't have when I got there. There were some minor equipment issues that will be fixed in a week or two, but, mostly, I need to practice on my own on what I can do given my limitations.
Thanks to everyone who was there for keeping in a good mood despite the cold, wind and rain. I saw no bad tempers, no pouting, no super egos, nothing bad. This was a great introduction to the group.

Bruce in WV,
Ask the crew there about AppleCore, BlueHats, Promotional Activity, and LibertySeed.
Welcome aboard. I'm a Shoot Boss in Alaska, but if I can be of any help always feel free to contact me here.

If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. (James Madison)

"Young man, what we meant in going for those Redcoats was this: we always had governed ourselves and we always meant to. They didn't mean we should."
(Captain Levi Preston, of the Danvers militia, at age 91, remembering the day)

That it is an indispensable duty which we owe to God, our country, ourselves and posterity, by all lawful ways and means in our power to maintain, defend and preserve those civil and religious rights and liberties, for which many of our fathers fought, bled and died, and to hand them down entire to future generations.  Suffolk Resolves, September 9, 1774, attributed to Dr. Joseph Warren

Bruce read the first quote below. If you do your best no one, NO ONE, can ask more.

Good luck.

"There's a great deal of talk about loyalty from the bottom to the top. Loyalty from the top down is even more necessary and is much less prevalent. One of the most frequently noted characteristics of great men who have remained great is loyalty to their subordinates."

Bruce,

Outstanding!  Thanks for stepping up.  I am "next door" in Kentucky and I have been trying to get the spark going in WV.  Maybe you will be the one to get things moving.  Let me know how I can help.

For Liberty, each Freeman Strives
As its a Gift of God
And for it willing yield their Lives
And Seal it with their Blood

Thrice happy they who thus resign
Into the peacefull Grave
Much better there, in Death Confin'd
Than a Surviving Slave

This Motto may adorn their Tombs,
(Let tyrants come and view)
"We rather seek these silent Rooms
Than live as Slaves to You"

Lemuel Haynes, 1775

Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
