What a nation has done, a nation can aspire to.
Dr. Jerry Pournelle

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck."

The hat in that picture is not Philagothan's shiny new red hat.  The red hat in the picture was given to me by Auntibellum at a shoot where they did not have a red hat to present to me.  Auntie gave me her own hat that had her initials in it and later on got me a shiny new red hat.  Auntie didn't want her old hat back so I wrote my initials in it and decided to pass it on the next time I was at a shoot where somebody earned a red hat.

My challenge to Philagothan:
-write your initials in that hat
-the next shoot you attend where somebody earns a red hat pass it on and issue the same challenge
-let's see how many hands this hat can pass through

I knew you had it in you. We worked a few times together, hot and cold, dry and wet, I know that your heart is in the place it needs to be for the program.

See you on the trail.
