An Instructors day at the Range(ran it like an abbreviated Appleseed).  Three RWVA Orange Hats, one Blue Hat, one long time Appleseeder (who is an Iowa Hunter Safety Instructor) and one guest, Larry (brother of one of the O/Hs). Two of the O/Hs are also Iowa Hunter Safety Instructors.  The day was started with a Welcome and Safety Briefing and then the Rifles where brought to the line and made safe.  A note now on new out of the box guns:  Larry was having trouble getting the chamber flag into his 10/22 and as we all know they do break off and his did.  A cleaning rod was brought to the line and the broken piece removed.  We got more than we expected,  a 6 inch piece of zip tie came out also.  There are 6 people now that believe that the bore of every rifle on the line needs to be inspected before a shoot. (it only seems common sense, but with new shooters, new guns, borrowed guns this may not get done at home or on the range).  We were very fortunate to have that chamber flag break off.  We started and ended the day with a Red Coat in the 1775 tradition, targets and drills were ran like normal and we all got some much needed practice.  The weather was just about perfect and thanks to Catalpa Creek Range for the use of their facilities at no cost. (it takes a lot of work and time to keep a range nice and clean).  Thank you !   and Thanks to Larry for letting 5 instructors practice on him !
