Unbridled Liberty

On a fine Cain-tuck-ee Saturday morning we had 20 equally fine Americans turn out at the world-famous Knob Creek Gun Range to learn about their heritage and improve their rifle marksmanship.  On Sunday we lost 2 of those shooters...but we gained 5 more.  So between the two days we had 25 shooters, making this the biggest event in Kentucky in 2013!

Many thanks to Knob Creek Gun Range, home of the world-famous Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot, for supporting Project Appleseed and hosting this event.  http://www.knobcreekrange.com/events/featured-events/machine-gun-shoot
The next Machine Gun Shoot takes place on October 11, 12 & 13 2013.

Thanks to all the shooters who came out.  It was great seeing repeat shooters and meeting new ones.  Thanks especially to the fathers who brought their children; Curtis, Nick and James, as well as to Ross & Karen for bringing your brood.

Thanks to the prior shooters who brought a new shooters; Donny brought Dawn, Josh brought his brother William, and John brought Holly.  Thank you James for volunteering to be our first responder.

And what a polite and attentive group of youth we had: Lillie, Grace, Chase, Kevin, Kendal, Chloe, Callie, Kara and Gabe.  It was a pleasure seeing your smiling faces all weekend.

Shannon, it was great meeting you, but I am sorry to have lost you for Sunday.  You were shooting well and I see a Rifleman score in your future.  Speaking of Rifleman, congratulations to John for shooting a 213 and then backing it up later with a 223(?), both on Sunday!  Kevin did great with a 203 on Saturday and most likely at least 1 or 2 Rifleman scores on Sunday except that he had extra holes from a neighboring shooter who shall remain unnamed, nevertheless he had a forgiving attitude.  I have seen adults get quite upset when they lost out on a patch due to someone shooting their target.  Kudos Kevin!  I am sure you will get it next time.  Kara also did extremely well with a 204 on Sunday!  Next time will be the charm for you as well young lady.  We had quite a few other shooters come very, very close to a Rifleman score.  Well-done everyone!

Thanks to our fine instructor crew; Ratchett, Slim, TheInfamousJay, Rayne and SERE Guy.  You all did a fine job and made this an easy shoot for me.  I look forward to working with you again.  And finally, thanks to Kentucky's newest Blue hats; Karen, Kara and Gabe!  HUZZAH!  Thanks for stepping up!

An RWVA Instructor would be happy to come and speak to your club or group and present the Three Strikes.  We call these non-shooting events "Libertyseeds".  Here is the website for more information: www.libertyseed.org. You may use the site to request a Libertyseed event, join the RWVA or make a donation.

Lots of dry fire practice, by the numbers, making sure to first go through your Steady Hold Factors.
Practice finding, shifting and verifying your NPOA.
Practice Inches Minutes and Clicks.
Please attend another Appleseed clinic and bring at least two new people with you.  If every 2013 Kentucky attendee returned and brought only two new people, and each of those new people brought only two more, and so on, by the 2016 election we will have had over 20,000 NEW people who have attended a Project Appleseed event in Kentucky!  Here is the 2013 Kentucky schedule:

Help Project Appleseed:
Promote Project Appleseed on your Facebook page.  Kentucky's page is: https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyRifleman
If you have shot a Rifleman score (210 points or greater on the AQT test), become an RWVA Instructor in Training (aka Orange Hat).  If you have not yet shot a Rifleman score, join Applecore (aka Blue Hats) and help at shoots with check in, range safety and other duties, or help behind the scenes with promotional efforts.  We will find a place for you if you volunteer!

A few ideas on how to help your community, state and nation:
First, start at home: Be a good spouse and parent. "Take good care of the children".  Make sure your household is prepared for natural disasters.
Then, get involved in your community: Be a good neighbor and watch out for each other. Become a block captain for your neighborhood. Organize a neighboorhood watch program.   Build wheelchair ramps for the disabled, and meet other special needs in your community.  Attend school board and town council meetings, or better yet, run for a position!  Get involved in your local Community Emergency Response Team

Write letters and make phone calls about issues that concern you.  I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 14,000!  That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775!  And this is for the little ol' state of Kentucky.  Imagine what multiplier they use when you call Washington, DC!  You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!

Josh and I enjoyed the event. I wore my shirt into work today, updated my Facebook pic, and started emailing my friends. I have at least 3 people that told me they probably like to do something like Appleseed. I have a lot more friends that would probably be interested.
I earned my nickname at work.

I would also like to add, thanks to everyone for their instruction. Thanks to slim for telling me to tighten my sling really tight, it helped. Thanks for your passion of liberty and willingness to come out and teach people like myself that never had an opportunity to learn marksmanship. I learned so much more than I imagined. I had never shot with a sling. I had never shot sitting or in prone.

It is great to see people out there that still love our country and have passion for community involvement. I plan to study history, improve my shooting and stay connected to Appleseed. It was great meeting everyone.

It's Karen here - just posting some better-late-than-never photos!  We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to learning more and helping as Blue Hats in the future.
