Hat Creek.

Weather, around 90 both days, breezy on Sunday.

7 Americans came out on a glorious Saturday to the Hat Creek Rifle and Pistol Club range.  They were ready to learn some marksmanship skills.

After the safety briefing, we began teaching to a very receptive group.  All of them, including the 4 youth worked hard to put all we taught them in practice.

Jamin and Essie were our "designated snipers" for the day and still did a great job of being very safe and having a great time and learning well.

William and Lewis worked hard as well

A break for lunch and the three strikes, with guests!  A 4-H mom and her son stopped by to see what we were up to and stayed for lunch, we even had a few of the club members who were participating in a match listen to the strikes.

After lunch it was back to the learning...groups shrinking...we got in two AQT's before the final Red Coat.

I awarded the Young Patriot patch to 4 very deserving youth, Jamin 6, Essie 11, William 8, and Lewis 13.  Jamin and Essie were going to take their patches home and show their big sister what she missed out on!

Bob, we hope you will make it out to another shoot, maybe be able to stay for Sunday as well...bring your family with you again.

Sunday was cooler and breezier than Saturday.  4 returning shooters Minta and William, and Joe and Lewis.  A quick review of the safety, and we were off on a review and some more learning.

A break for lunch to tell the Dangerous Old Men and Determined Dangerous Dames, then it was back to the AQT's.

The light came on for several shooters as they realized how to put what we taught them to use...the ahha moment!  Joe experienced several as the afternoon went on.  Scores kept climbing.  Minta and Lewis were in the upper 160's.  Joe hit 178 (with the unfortunate help from Lewis).  William had a rifle malfunction that was determined to be too unsafe for him to continue shooting it.  We didn't have a small enough loaner so he ended up sitting out the rest of the afternoon watching his mom Minta shoot.

Lewis had a malfunction also that removed his rifle from the line but was able to continue with a loaner.  Put all his new knowledge of IMC to use in sighting in the new scoped rifle.

I didn't give out any rifleman patches this weekend but all those folks were truly riflemen in their hearts and minds...a bit of practice and another appleseed will see them with a patch.  Lewis...quit shooting your dad's target...or it's pink flowers for you!!! ;D

Remember the NPOA all of you!

OH.....almost forgot...William was impressed enough by the story of David Lamson that he created a lego model of those DOM's capturing the supply wagon....Hey Minta...will you please post the picture of it?

Thank you to all who came out and made this a great event.

Thank you to my instructors that put in all the hard work.

A special thanks to LadyCavilier, who wasn't with us in person but was with us in loaner rifle!
