Unbridled Liberty

Four Americans turned out for the first event at Kentucky River Bushcraft in Bethlehem, KY.  We had a drizzly start on Saturday morning and then a brief windstorm followed by beautiful weather on Sunday as everyone learned about our shared heritage and improved their rifle marksmanship.

Thank you Josh for coming out with your son David.  He is a fine young man and is well on his way to becoming a Rifleman.  On Sunday, Josh shot a high score of 198 with 3 rounds dropped, two of them due to rifle malfunctions.   David did a fine job as can be seen in the pictures.  He rocked the single shot Savage Rascal with a confidence and determination that I have never seen in a young person.   O0

Jeremiah and Dave, thank you both for coming out.  It was a pleasure meeting you.  I envy Andre for having such great neighbors.  I believe that with perseverance you will both shoot a Rifleman score.

Thanks to Barbie, Andre and Longrifleman for helping.  Once again, you made my job easy.   Thanks to Jason from Kentucky River Bushcraft for your hospitality, and thanks to Larry for helping with the chow.  Good seeing you again!

I will post pictures ASAP.  I hope to see you all again October 5-6.

An RWVA Instructor would be happy to come and speak to your club or group and present the Three Strikes.  We call these non-shooting events "Libertyseeds".  Here is the website for more information: www.libertyseed.org. You may use the site to request a Libertyseed event, join the RWVA or make a donation.

Lots of dry fire practice, by the numbers, making sure to first go through your Steady Hold Factors.
Practice finding, shifting and verifying your NPOA.
Practice Inches Minutes and Clicks.
Please attend another Appleseed clinic and bring at least two new people with you.  If every 2013 Kentucky attendee returned and brought only two new people, and each of those new people brought only two more, and so on, by the 2016 election we will have had over 20,000 NEW people who have attended a Project Appleseed event in Kentucky!  Here is the 2013 Kentucky schedule:

Help Project Appleseed:
Promote Project Appleseed on your Facebook page.  Kentucky's page is: https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyRifleman
If you have shot a Rifleman score (210 points or greater on the AQT test), become an RWVA Instructor in Training (aka Orange Hat).  If you have not yet shot a Rifleman score, join Applecore (aka Blue Hats) and help at shoots with check in, range safety and other duties, or help behind the scenes with promotional efforts.  We will find a place for you if you volunteer!

A few ideas on how to help your community, state and nation:
First, start at home: Be a good spouse and parent. "Take good care of the children".  Make sure your household is prepared for natural disasters.
Then, get involved in your community: Be a good neighbor and watch out for each other. Become a block captain for your neighborhood. Build wheelchair ramps for the disabled, and meet other special needs in your community.  Attend school board and town council meetings, or better yet, run for a position!  Get involved in your local Community Emergency Response Team

Write letters and make phone calls about issues that concern you.  I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 14,000!  That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775!  And this is for the little ol' state of Kentucky.  Imagine what multiplier they use when you call Washington, DC!  You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!

As always, another great weekend to border raid our neighbors to the south.

Thanks to Jason and Larry for their hospitality.  It's always nice when our host serve up chow, especially some that was grilled and cooked over a campfire!

Fellow instructors- It was a great weekend.  I hope to see ya'll on the trail in the future.

Josh- You improved A TON over the course of the weekend.  Even running an AQT chock full of malfunctions, you squeezed out a 198.  I have no doubt you will score rifleman soon.  ^:)^

David-  Just like your dad, you showed improvement throughout the weekend.  Just remember to slow down and take your time... because when you did, you rocked! (Especially on stage 1 & 2).  You worked that bolt lightning fast!   :---

Jeremiah-  Once we got that gun/bolt cleaned up and greased up, it worked a heck of a lot better, and you were able to work the bolt without breaking position/cheek weld!   O0 Like everyone else, you improved throughout the weekend.  Keep on practicing, I'm looking forward to seeing how much you improve at the next event you hopefully attend!

Dave-  You remind me of myself at the shoot I first scored rifleman at... feeling like you could do just as well if you launched your .22 like a lawn dart at the target.  But, you stuck with it and with an equipment change and a lil' work you improved greatly!   ^:)^  It's always hard trying something new when we are used to doing something one way... but like I said, another tool for the toolbox.  Hope to have you out at another event and see how you improved!  Experiment at home with different variations on the seated position to find out what works best for you.

The weather started out a little undesirable with a cool breeze and rain, which turned to pretty strong gusts that tried to whisk away our cover!  But, everyone stuck through it and we had a great time.  Sunday was very much welcome with its bright blue sky and warm temperatures.  History and heritage was well recieved by all, which is always nice to see.
We wrapped up the weekend with some boom-ding, and parted ways after packing up camp.

I sure hope to see ya'll out on the trail again.  It was a great weekend with great folks   :)

Indiana Appleseed:  Farm Bred, Brass Fed

Lord make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true, and my hands faster than those who would seek to destroy me.  Grant me victory over my foes, and those  that wish to do harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be if I only had my Gun; and Lord if today is truly the day that you take me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass.

I want to thank you again Unbridled Liberty, Barbie, Andre, and Jeff for all of your help this past weekend.  I left the event with the desire to learn more about marksmanship, to keep practicing and to explore more of the history of the birth of our nation.  Keep up the good work everyone!  Great pictures too. :)

I would like to say Thank You to everyone that was there!  I wasn't sure how well this would turn out with a 9 year old, and you guys were so kind and helpful with David!  We both had a lot of fun and learned a lot too.  I worry about how to teach my kids what's important in life and do it in a fun way.  I must say Project Appleseed made it seem easy this past weekend.  Unbridled Liberty, I want to Thank You especially for allowing us to use your rifles when it quickly became clear what we brought wasn't going to work.  God bless you guys and I hope to see you soon!
