Hammer Forged

It was a cold and crisp morning on December 29, 2012 when a group of involved, committed,  Americans came together to take part in our uniquely American tradition of rifle marksmanship.  We came together as individuals but bonded like family as we shared our common History and Heritage.

These braved souls got out of a warm bed and drove to the Lapeer County Sportsman's Club to honor our forefathers and the choices and sufferings they endured on the day of our American Revolution.

Project Appleseed was proud to sponsor another sold-out event, and even prouder to see our American youths smiling and energized as they watched their skills improve and listened to the stories of April 19, 1775.  Truly, an inspirational weekend for Project Appleseed.

Thanks to everyone for keeping the brushfires of freedom alive for America, you are everything that Project Appleseed works for!

Fantastic first day at Lapeer. Great (snowy) weather, great teachable attitudes, and shrinking groups! Those amazing, shrinking, groups!
Can't we all just agree to disagree in a civil fashion while the planet's last, fading hope of liberty and prosperity gets snuffed out?

No. We can't.

An AMAZING Suday at Lapeer!!!1!

So many good storys.... And I forgot to take any pics :(

Appleseeders are the best people on the planet. How uplifting to see so many Americans take an interest in our shared heritage. Thank you all for attending! I can think of few greater pleasures than helping people learn to shoot and see them embrace the history of our country.

Serendipitously,  Santa brought me a new camera

Some of the Ice House gang. Yes, it was quite wintery.

Lapeer is a great place for a Winterseed...great people, good facilities, never a worry that you won't get wintry conditions.  Where else do instructors just randomly show up to help out just to participate in the camaraderie and fun?

Lots of hearty Americans and WOWZA, we almost ran out of patches.  I lost count but at least 4 student patches (one family had mom, dad and 2 daughters all get their coveted Rifleman status -- good job John, Kayleen, Sydney and Kendall.  Icehouse!  Huzzah!) plus a whole bunch of instructor requalifications.  Lots of fun at the KD range with a Brown Bess, 2 ARs, Garand, M1A SOCOM and M1903A4 Sniper.  Nothing like 18 odd instructors to give you options.

And the quote of the day from our own AC Zazzles during Sunday morning introductions:  "I'm in the AppleCore.  It's pretty much just like being an instructor, but I don't get to yell at people."

Dang that IBC in 2 weeks. I'll shoot for next year. Maybe even come over to Bellevue in 3 weeks.

Thanks for letting me play.  I have total respect for the "Hats" that ran the shoot, and am proud to belong to a nation where its citizens will brave the cold to learn its history; the skills that helped create it; and understand its importance.  Thanks to our guests for not only showing up, but also for giving us an excuse to be there.
I get things done because I get things done.

All of us Hendlers had a great first experience at the Winterseed and are looking forward to becoming instructors.  The IBC was great.  I know several people took pictures of us receiving our Winterseed Rifleman patches.  I have one from Number 6, but my eyes are closed.  I am looking for any other pictures for us.  Can those of you who took them either post them email them to me?  I would really appreciate it!  Looking forward to our next Appleseed!

I've got a good pic of the three "Dangerous Women" receiving their winterseed patches.  Send me an email at mi@appleseedinfo.org and I'll reply back with a hi-res copy (16 MP).
