I would also like to be kept informed of any new deals.  Or, if they are posted in this thread, I do have it set to notify me.

Thanks!

How about we start a 'group buy's" topic and then sticky it with a 'go to' guy for it?

Well, thus far we only have one Group Buy item, but if we get another one or 2, we could consider a Group Buy subforum.

How about some suggestions of what to get on a Group Buy from all of you?

I buy wholesale anyways, so I can help with some of these buys. I'll say right up front that I don't want to head any up, but, I can help get reasonable prices arranged.

Sounds like New Englanders to me.

My first suggestion would be to get a group buy on CCI .22 LR ammo. Plated bullet/no HP but just plain RN. Can't find in my area.
They work great in .22's and in conversion kits for AR's, 1911's and Glocks.
I have never had a mis-fire with them as I have with Rem., Federal and Win. bulk boxes.
Second, Ruger 10/22 mags.
Third, Butler Creek 10 rd. Steel lip mags.

Nickle

Well, we'll see what the interest is going to be for that ammo before we move on that one.

Ken, you want to head up a magazine group buy? We can do both Ruger and Butler Creek at the same time, if you want.

how about the cmp .22 ammo?
they say it shoots well at about half the price of mini-mag solid.
maybe an ammo run to the cmp store by someone?

"There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our (the United States) overthrow.  Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter.  From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger.  I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." - Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837

Now you've done it!  I had to start saving pennies to modify my 10/22 carbine into a Liberty Training Rifle   ;D

Only ammo mine likes is CCI mini mag.  Still cheaper than .223 though.

This is what mine likes best:

http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=866708&t=11082005

I can't get you enough break on that to justify shipping it twice.

Also, your price and my price on 5000 rounds of it is the same. $162.99

Funny that it's cheaper for me to buy 10 of the 500 pack, than a single 10 pack of 500's.

Don't use this stuff so I can't say the prices are good or not.  Since some folks are interested in this stuff, here's a source for some of the 10/22 accessories

Look at this.  I'd rather have the peep sight back on the back of the receiver.  I'm not sure how well it would work that far from your eye.  Don't believe it'll be competition for the Tech Sights, but its interesting that others are seeing a "need" for a rear peep sight.  This one would be quick and easy to install.

QuoteI agree on adding a recoil buffer.  I think it should be added to Nickle's original accessory list.

I will add this to the LTR thread I have been working on.  I really like the buffer addition to my LTR as well.  I am going to add them to my M1A, SIG and others I really like as well.

Tell you how cheap I am......I wanted to see if a buffer really works, so I got a nylon bolt from Ace to see.  After a little fitting and cutting, I have a nice $0.33 buffer that I use for a back up.

They are amust for your 10/22.

That is a pretty good product.  Its like a MoJo rear sight.  Not a true peep, but better than the stock sight.

I've used a "stock" 10/22 (might be the only one in the world) with the stock sights, and after you adjust it, they are good enough for out to 30 yards.  So ths is a good option, especially for a back up for scope or reddots.

I'm getting one this week, should let you know how it "runs" in a week.

The buffer is nice if for no other reason but to quiet the action a bit. It removes a lot of the metal-on-metal "clack-clack-clack".

Tech-Sites:
For those of you who want their peeps but feel they're losing the ability to scope their 10/22 (a fine -and fun- rifle to scope)... a few months ago I had suggested to the folks at Tech-Sites that they create a site with an integrated Weaver or Picatinny rail.  I got a response back - they're already on it. I was told that they're hoping to have one ready for December.

I just updated the LTR thread on the last question about 'special mods for my wal mart 10/22'?  I put a recommendation for the recoil buffer on there.  I also put a special note about using a little 'Rem oil' to get the thing installed.  It's a rought spot when it's dry.

Oh, man... and I need to get an LTR done for Christmas for someone. Hope that they're serious about that date. I'll have to contact them about it...

I try to keep add ons limited.  But I do consider a buffer a needed add on.  It quiets the clank and softens the felt hit of the bolt on the bolt pin.  If not a buffer, I found a cheek pad helps out also, almost to the same effect.

Musket, How did you do this - drill it out and fit it over the already existing pin, or cut off the threads and just slip it in in place of the existing pin? Pics?

I've bought two sets of this seller's 10/22 pack.  I think its about all you need.

Took your advice. Got two of his kits in the mail yesterday (fast shipping!) and installed them on the two LTR's last night. Added sling swivel to the one that needed it. Now just need some Tech Sights... saving the pennies and nickels. But, measurable progress in reasonable time.

The seller had a neat looking flex rod for cleaning as well, I ordered one to see how its goign to hold up.  I like the idea of using regular attachments like a stiff cleaning rod.

My peep sight is on the way, should be here the begining of the week.

I will tell you that an Otis cleaning kit for the AR/M16 doesn't work well in a 10/22. The patch/brush end is too long. I found out last weekend, the hard way, and had to remove the bolt to clean the rifle.

I've had problems with 22 cal centerfire cleaning equipment in 22 rimfire bores also.

Yup, have a kit for the centerfire and a separate kit for the rimfire. I do find that the Boresnake in .22 cal works equally fine in either.

ax238

you know, as this thread grows I find more and more things I can add (and keep adding ) the the 10/22 thread about 'ive got my rifle now what?".  I think I will add another sentence or 2 to the cleaning question about the boresnake and the non-conforming .22 cleaning rods.  I myself have had issues with the store bought rods.  I now pour some Hoppe's in the barrel, plug both ends with old used ear plugs, and let it soak about 20 mins then run patches, then the boresnake.  Finally just a dab of oil.
