For Liberty, each Freeman Strives
As its a Gift of God
And for it willing yield their Lives

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

Our future

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."   T Paine

Yes, that is the future of this great country.

When I read the title, I was afraid it was gonna be another picture of SPQR.  ;D

Looking good, techres!  Are you able to do anymore cropping? The other person and the junk on the left are a little distracting.

Also, how does it look when you flip the picture on the vertical axis?  I would love to see the flag blowing the other direction.

I tried cropping but it felt claustrophobic, so I went back to the books and learned a new trick.  This should look better:

As a test for flipping, look at this picture wise, not word wise.  I can fix the words and all, but want to make sure it is really better enough to do the work:

My main concern is that it will make him a southpaw which people will focus on and detract from the message.

I'm not sure what kind of photoshop magic you did on the side, but it seems to have worked.  Much better.

As for flipping the image - I LOVE it now that the flag is going the correct direction.  But you have a point with the sling.  Hmmmm...what does everyone else think?

I like it much better with the flag blowing out towards the right.  As to the sling, I don't think that's something that non-appleseeders (and by "non-" I mean "future") will really notice, and if anyone asks what that thing hanging off his arm is, it's a great way to tell them about how awesome the sling is and how important it is to learn its use.  Also, what's wrong with southpaws?

And I might as well say this before SPQR does, this demonstrates another good reason for people to not have their slings attached to their arms all day long.  ;)

A moral compass provides a basis for making decisions; an action is good or bad, right or wrong when viewed in the light of the individual's moral bearing. If no moral compass exists for the individual, then decisions and actions are made on the basis of purely subjective thoughts. This leads to "If it makes me happy, or makes me feel good, or if it's something I simply want to do, then it is right and good."
