Folks, I have a 7th stepping opportunity for us.  Constituting America is doing an essay series on the 2nd amendment on Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6. I know many of you have well thought out opinions on what it really means and here's your chance to have them noticed by lots of influential people. All you have to do is comment on the essay. It's that easy. Well thought out arguments and not ranting is what we do. The link is at http://www.constitutingamerica.org/blog/category/analyzing-the-amendments-90-days-2012-project/ These ladies work hard at educating people on the constitution so there is a lot of overlap with what we do.  Please share with your friends via facebook, etc.  We can make a difference and get noticed.  Include that you are with Appleseed in your post.  I'll be posting on Monday. Thanks.

"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." — George Washington

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." --Mark Twain (1835-1910)

"A constitution is not the act of a government, but of a people constituting a government; and government without a constitution is power without a right. All power exercised over a nation, must have some beginning. It must be either delegated, or assumed. There are not other sources. All delegated power is trust, and all assumed power is usurpation. Time does not alter the nature and quality of either." ~ Thomas Paine

Disclaimer: I was asked by one of the co-founders of Constituting America to see if the 'Appleseed folks' would mind chiming in.  I said it may be tough since the 'Appleseed folks' aren't very opinionated.  Little does she know...

"When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." - Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican.
