It has been brought to my attention that on tuesday dec 13th and tuesday dec 27th Rio Salado is hosting tactical .22 matches.
Looks like a blast and I plan on going to the dec 13th one once I get more information.
Currently they run an iron sight and an optics division, match starts at 5:30.
heres a quick link to a video of it:

they said its mainly .22 AR variants and 10/22's.
as I get more info I will be posting it in this thread.

Thanks,
Al

ok so, $10 for non members, $7 for members.
shooting reactive steel targets 25 to 100 yards out.
4" to 24" targets
Registration closes at 7 pm shooting starts at 5:30 pm, open to zero our rifles on the public paper range anytime before 5.
Iron sight and Optics divisions
have atleast 200 rnd's ammo
requires enough magazines to fire 50 rounds at a time
ear and eye protection mandatory

This is something they do every other Tuesday at Rio: "Tuesday Tactical Rifle" matches.  Rimfire only, 4 stations, engaging steel targets from 25 to 100 yards with modest movement between targets.

All movement is horizontal at the firing line, no running downrange.

Magazines are drawn from the body, but I've yet to see a stage that requires more than 1 mag change for rifles that have 20+ rounds per mag.

I sometimes do TTR with my CMMG .22 M4, running it with irons.

It's good fun, and can really sharpen up your standing scores on the AQT.  Once you run TTR a few times and have to deal with moving your shooting position, re-acquiring enough NPOA quickly under time pressure to hit the target, and target shifts, that stage 1 of the AQT looks downright easy.

Just talked to the range, match has been cancelled.

when has rough weather stopped a rifleman?

PaxxAZ

Drats, I was getting waiting for Laundry to get into the Dryer, and then I was going to go watch.

Now, I'll just sleep.

last one was cancelled, but they are doing one december 27th, I wont be able to make it, but in the new year they are doing one on either the 3rd, or the 10th. I will have to verify this with the guy that runs the matches but I will be attending either way. Hopefully Ill see some of you guys there!
Ill past back with finalized dates.

AWDboostADDICT

the tactical .22 match will be taking place the 2nd and 4th tuesday of every month.
So that means for the newyear our next one will be on the 10th

Went Last night (I was Late so did not even pick up my .22) But I watched and learned some.

Looks very Fun. The next one is Canceled so second Tues of February is the next one. I plan to compete at that one.

Bring 25 or 30+ round mags, all event rounds are based on 30 hits, all targets reactive (so fun). close range just ding, farther out the Flag, and the 80/100 yarders have strobe lights when you hit.

(field changes every event), this event it was 2 standing, and one sitting in a simulated (plywood) truck, and shooting out the cab windows.

it looks really fun, not the tempered Rifleman, but more the doorbusting feel.

Like I said I am really planning to be there next time.

Most of the people there are using this as practice for 3 Gun, so high end equipment on the line.

You need about 300 rounds to play it safe, if you are going too fast.

glad to see you'll be joining me next one paxx!
are you going to be joining us at the feb 4-5th appleseed?

PaxxAZ

Yes, and hoping a couple of friends will make it as well, had more planning, but had conflicts with the date.

I will be trying to make sure you shoot straight this time  :P

Just Kidding, you did really well, took me 3 tries, so you should have it this time.

Remember, groups first, then focused on hitting the target.
