What a beautiful weekend for America! With near perfect weather and starting at a very early hour, there were shooters showing up, eager to learn the fine American tradition of marksmanship. Despite a full line of 24 shooters, we actually got started slightly early and immediately got into the business of producing Riflemen. Progress was rapid and by the time for a well deserved lunch break, our students were looking good. With the telling of the First Strike in the history of April 19th, 1775, the mood was serious as we were all reminded that freedom is not free and that a considerable cost was paid by those Patriots of so long ago. By the end of Saturday, we had several with admirably high scores on the AQT, but alas, not quite enough to earn the title of Rifleman.

With the departure of several shooters who could only attend on Saturday, the line on Sunday was a bit smaller with 12 participants soaking up history, heritage, and marksmanship. All of the fundamentals were reviewed as we got down to the business of becoming better shots--and better Americans. Once again, progress was evident and during the afternoon's "AQT grind" the enthusiasm never let up. By the end of the day, Haley, a previous Rifle(wo)man, showed that she had not forgotten how to shoot as she consistently "rang the bell" with solid Rifleman scores. Congratulations, Haley! I really do think that you would look great in an Orange Hat. Even after the event was officially over, we had shooters who just did not want to quit and we ran a couple more rapid fire AQT's as the daylight faded. To everyone--keep up your dry firing, practice getting into the positions, come to another Appleseed and you will be expert shooters. There are so many of you who are really, really close!

Lastly, my heartfelt thanks goes out to our superb instructors: Smoakingun, Rambo Granny, Flawyer, and our newest Orange Hat, pikid89. You guys rock!

If anyone has pictures, please share them to help remind us what a special weekend this was.
The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

9mm4545 summed it up pretty well. It is truely rewarding to witness genuine persistence, very worth getting home late. Thankyou to the shooters for making this such a great weekend
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.
