ITB

Folks,

Wanted to throw this up here so we can keep track of firm/tentative/possible dates for 2012 events.

As I've mentioned to everyone, we've got some pretty aggressive goals for 2012.  But I know our Instructor Corps is up to the challenge.  Let's start planning events for 2012!!!

Please post in this thread or PM Swamp Thing or myself for additions/changes/deletions.

Calendar below.  Here's a map of locations (thanks to Grindstone):

Hello all,

To anybody and everybody reading this post. Whether you are an Appleseed instructor or an enthusiastic American who enjoyed their Appleseed experience.

If you or someone you know has an idea about a rifle range that might be interested in hosting one of our events, please let us know.

As the Range Development Coordinator for Michigan, I would be more than happy to follow up on any leads that you may have.

You can simply reply to this forum post or send me a PM with any info you have.

Thanks!

Hello everybody,

With the goal of keeping this thread nice and tidy for everyone to read, I've taken the liberty of removing all the posts except for the greeting and the actual calendar of scheduled events. Please don't take offense, heck, more than half of them were mine.  ++)

I'll leave up the obligitory high five posts when new ranges are scheduled and warmly thank the host ranges for a few weeks and then clean them out.

P.S. I don't want to jynx anything but Intheburbs is speaking to a club tonight that has a 600yd. range.

Rider

Might want to approach the club in Oscoda. I am told they have there 600 yard range operational.

Swamp Thing

Hi Rider,

Do you have any contact info for them? Names, numbers, etc...

If you have anything, please let me know and I'll be all over it.

Thanks,

ST

No problem Rider. I've actually been a little sidetracked myself for the last two weeks.

I will definitely give them a call.

Thanks again for the lead. It's much appreciated.

Suggestion from ITB:
We should put this image at the top of our calendar like they do in Ohio.

I would suggest that we do Ohio one better and also provide this link under the picture:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107205457411595070370.0004670c19bef130c16b7&z=4

I'm not quite at the point where I can automatically re-center the map on Michigan and post the Google source code in the forum, but a screenshot is a start.

Here are some other ways to link to the image which is hosted on my photobucket account.

I love it... as a neighbor to Ohio... certainly show them that you can do it one better in Michigan. ;)

However, you SHOULD also PM MeanStreaker how to improve his page to the same level. We're all working towards the same goal. :)

Huzzah!

New event and venue added.  Capital Area Sportsmen's League, Lansing, August 18-19.

If the count is right, that makes 36 events.  Thanks to everyone involved for helping us reach our goal.  Wanna take a shot at 40?   ~~:)

Yes!  We will have some new green hats that will need to stretch their legs.   If we do more than 36 do we have "roll over" AS's for 2013?

While one doesn't want to count the chickens before they are hatched it is likely that Brooklyn is interested in another this year, probably in October.

I can't make a commitment of any kind but if there was enough interest to make it worthwhile I could probably convince our board to host another Appleseed on one of the first 2 weekends in December. Appleseed would probably have to be responsible for any snow plowing that might be needed on the road down to the range and on the range. Getting stuck down there hits the pocket book pretty hard if someone needs a tow. I would attend and do what I can to support the effort.

Any chance of getting a file of the MI Google map that I can use to make a poster with? I also want to do the same thing for IN AS's so we can show locations.
