If you are looking for a good smartphone app to estimate distance with a mil dot scope, try Reticle Ranger. I installed it on my DroidX and it works great. Free.

If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."  Abraham Lincoln

I have it too.

Decent little calculator for quick estimates. Also does MOA and IPHY.

Without a Scope, there is an App called "Spotter".
Uses the iPhone camera..you tell it the size of a known object in the view and it gives the range.

Mil-Dot rangefinder on the iPhone is nice.  You don't have to type anything in.  You use slide bars to input target size and mils.  It also has a nice reticle view.  It's free. So the price is right.

"When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." - Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican.

Lord make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true, and my hands faster than those who would seek to destroy me.  Grant me victory over my foes, and those  that wish to do harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be if I only had my Gun; and loard if today is truly the day that you take me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass.
