An Awesome weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ethan Allen Firing Range hosted a great Appleseed weekend in VT.
We had some of the best shooters and instructors that I have worked with and the weather was fantastic.  One new riflemen on the first AQT and an IIT (who can do some excellent pushups as well) on day two at KD.  I want to thank all of the shooters, EAFR, and the instructors for their efforts and making such a great weekend happen as there were a few obstacles.  It's always stirring to here these guys tell the 3 strikes (KDAN, Ripersnifle), rehone on the fundementalls (Nickle) and go over in detail about KD, target detection, range estimation and ballistics-(Boltgun 71) and then put it to use at KD on a perfect day!!!!
The shooters were smiling from ear to ear...I have to admit seeing Nickle, KDAN, and Ripersnifle in MITCH helmets in the pits helping to mark and score targets so that shooters could finish the KD COF before a "new mandatory cold time", brought a smile to my face.  None wanted to stop either day despite fatigue.  Thank you guys also for the hands on Mildot class friday night.

Sheryl, thank you for cooking Saturday and Sunday it really helped to have some delicious food there as we were out in the mountains.  We had shooters come from 8 hours away in NY City through challenging road netwoorks just to be here.  We had cadets from that old Cav school Norwich here trying to learn all about an AR at KD.  We even had a soldier preparing for the Sniper School shortly.  Thank you to all and Im sure that when KDAN gets home around 0200 he will post some of the pictures on here.  Great job shooters and the team.

This was a great shoot with some of the most attentive Appleseeders I have yet to see.  Lots of improvement was made by all.  Congrats to Hale our new Rifleman, and we had two more knocking close on the Rifleman door.  Had we had more time to shoot, I am certain more Riflemen and Riflewomen would of been made.  Thanks to everyone in being patient and in overcoming the challenges presented by our tight time constraints and changing of ranges.

Thanks also goes to the instructors, this was a great an dknowledgable group to work with.  It was a pleasure to finally put faces to some of the names I have known for so long.

I had a great time.  The weather was fantastic and it's always good to see old friends.  Learned a ton of stuff.  Ate a ton of hot dogs.  Snored the night away in officer's quarters (the sign said "Transient Housing" - I felt right at home).  I don't mind an eight hour drive at all; there's a Led Zeppelin station in every county.  Coming down the west side of Vermont and the east side of upstate NY was a treat.  Been in the city so long, I forget how many people live out there.  It's amazing!  What do you folks do?

I will work any event I can with any one of these guys.  Spartan ran a tight program, but left a moment here and there for me to run long or for Nickle to tell a story.  Boltgun71 never threatens to run long, but you better pay attention because not a word is wasted and it's all worth hearing and understanding.  And I was real happy to see my friend and fellow Woodchuck, Ripersnifle.  Congrats on number 4!  I stopped at two; now I just collect dogs.

First time I saw Nickle and Cheryl all year!!!  Still the sweetest couple on the trail.

Jericho is a magnificent range, and the Guardsman we ran into were very friendly.  Can't wait to go back.  I like working range pits.  Good times down there.  I'm just glad nobody has a picture of me in my "K Pot"...  Genus "Dorkus", Species "Malorkus".

Special shout-out to Margaret, 13, who shot all day on Saturday.  Thanks Dad!  Tip of the ballcap to our four cadets from Norwich Academy and the Sniper School rookie - all friends of Ripersnifle.  We had two psychologists on Saturday that did not return on Sunday (what do they know that we did not?).  Sergeant Hale showed me I have a long way to go with open sights...  The Korporation was there, and then he was not, and then he was again...  but don't tell anybody.

Nickle.  Ask me how he got his name.

Never handled a rifle before; now a shooter.

Great weekend. That new IIT got waived for his Rifleman score, almost didn't need it. A tweak of his zero, he would have gotten his patch from a KD score.

And, keep checking, I have a picture of kDan wearing a ACH (Army Combat Helmet), and will post it.
They have men amongst them who know very well what they are about, having been employed as Rangers against the Indians and Canadians and this country being much covered with wood, and hilly, is very advantageous for their method of fighting. . . . ".  Lord Percy

Sounds like New Englanders to me.

Ha Ha then... I guess I'll have to beat you to it.  It would make a cool motorcycle helmet, not to mention perhaps a Calverton necessary.   ::)
