Project Appleseed was again hosted by the Iroquois Road and Gun Club (http://www.iroquoisrodandgun.org) for a second promotional opportunity. This time it was for the 2011 New York State NRA Conventional Prone Rifle Regional Championship.

This was a smaller competition than originally envisioned due to the remaining effects of Hurricane "Irene", but a number of dedicated competitors braved long drives with multiple detours to participate.  This is a great group of passionate shooters and their families.

Appleseed had the opportunity to meet and seventh step shooters and family members alike, sharing information about ranges who host us closer to their homes.  While seventh stepping, a parent of a young shooter shared a  lead for a range in the Syracuse area that might be willing to host Appleseed!  Also sharing that his home range will be having a large open house that we might be able to seventh step at. O0

We want to thank Iroquois Rod and Gun Club for their support.  Chuck Meyer and Ron Michon, as well as other members of  the range, could not be more helpful or friendly.  They are very supportive of us presenting to the Iroquois General Membership meeting later this month about the possibility of Iroquois hosting an Appleseed event.  This is a beautiful venue with multiple shooting sport opportunities, from skeet and trap, to regular and 3D archery, rimfire and high power, even an indoor range.  This great range is very concerned about keeping the costs reasonable for their members.  They currently have a GREAT raffle going.  31 prizes from fine rifles and shotguns to an ATV.  $25 per ticket, but with these prizes it's a steal!!!  If anyone is interested in getting in on this, contact them through their web site.

Pictures to follow.

Criticism is the only known antidote to error.  David Brin

What a nation has done, a nation can aspire to.
Dr. Jerry Pournelle

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck."

I had forgotten to mention (Sue reminded me!), a parent of one of the shooters at this competition was very interested in the promotional material and the conversation with Sue. That person was so impressed that we are an all volunteer organization and what we do, that person made a cash donation to the RWVA Project Appleseed! I have forwarded this on to RWVA in Ramseur NC. That parent didn't want the person's name to be given out and did not want a receipt. A HUGE thank you to that proud parent!!!

The Mrs.

At the invitation of Ron Michon of Iroquois Rod and Gun Club, R1sgxt and I did a presentation to their General Membership meeting tonight.  It seems to have gone over well.  Iroquois can offer 18 shooters with rimfire rifles an opportunity to learn History, Heritage and Marksmanship.  Follow up will need to be done to secure this site, but all seems to be going along well.
