The CT Crew is ramping up to staff an AS booth at the Goshen Fair, September 3-5 (Labor Day weekend). This fair is a HUGE draw, attracting people from across CT, western Mass and adjacent eastern New York, along with folks from "The City." We'll have thousands of eyeballs walking by for three days, all in a festive, relaxed mood. Perfect venue for Seventh Stepping.

We cordially invite any and all Instructors, IITs, Applecore, or just Appleseed groupies to turn out to staff our booth at this high-value venue. We have a Dashboard over on the CT forum at http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=24400.0, so head over and find out what needs to be done.

This is a perfect opportunity to sell Appleseed in the region and to tap into a fresh market of "non-gun" people. We've all been complaining about low turnout at shoots. Well - just don't sit there whining about it! GET OFF THE COUCH AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!

This sounds like a good opportunity to do a lot of 7th stepping! O0 CT is not that far of a drive from NY.

Sue ("The Mrs.") and I will be working a promo table/tent at Iroquois Rod and Gun Club in Rotterdam NY that weekend during the regional small bore rifle competition.

Mo --

I see you know the importance of promotions! We've worked gun shows and the like before, but I don't think we've tried competitions like that yet. Good idea to squirrel away.

Just so you know - we're planning to be set up to sign people up for upcoming shoots ON THE SPOT - strike while the iron is hot. We'll probably just have stacks of mail-in forms, and we'll collect the money and send it in after the fair with the forms. We'll also have the schedule of shoots for Connecticut AND the surrounding states likely to draw fair goers. So, it's possible that NY and MA may find themselves in the embarrassing position of having shoots filled up by the Seventh Stepping efforts of CT!! Yikes! I sure wouldn't want you guys to suffer THAT humiliation - better send over someone to work the booth with us, just in case.   O0

Just curious, but would a WiFi connection work for "on the spot" sign ups?  There are dongles and apps for smart phones that allow CC swiping then and there.  Maybe a tie in to e-brite if they have an app for that?  Don't give them a chance to go home and get busy and forget to register.

Really "strike while the iron is hot ..."

We use them for fundraising for BSA.  They work well.  Fairly small investment.

The USS Constitution:  Pride of the U.S. Fleet.  Named by George Washington.  Built in Boston. Earned her nickname fighting the British.  She is a Frigate - fast, light, carrying just enough firepower to get her job done, yet not so much as to encumber.

In 1830, the Secretary of the Navy declared her unfit for service.  Destined to be scuttled, the PEOPLE would not have it!  The barnacles slowing her were scraped, she was re-fit, and returned to her original glory.  Thrice more over the years, the PEOPLE restored her.

Now, she is the oldest floating commissioned naval vessel in the world.  In 2010 she celebrated her 213th birthday.

How appropriate her name.  I have faith in We The People!

At the last promo we did in July, we did have a list of remaining shoots in NY available to hand out. I like the idea of signing people up on the spot! Have them fill out the form and include the payment info, stuff the paperwork in an envelope, seal it, and stamp it in front of the folks, and drop it in a mailbox on my way home! Or help them navigate to eventbrite on their smart phones! O0

The Mrs.

This time we need to bring a list of NE shoots as the event we are covering this time is a NE event.

That will be on the task list - a complete list of the upcoming shoots for the tri-state (MA-CT-NY) area, plus a check of EventBrite beforehand so we know how many spots are left. Unless we can do some tech-stuff (WiFi hotspot and a laptop, or maybe a smartphone) and sign folks up on EventBrite on the spot. If we can do that, then a stack of mail-in registration forms will do. Anything to close the sale on the spot.
