"My primary objective is to change hearts and minds, for that is where the gaping hole in the hull of the USS America lies. I am looking to make a spark and praying that it will ignite, by their own will, into a bonfire in their hearts and souls."  PHenry

"Folks, this Appleseed thing doesn't work if we get a patch and go home. It doesn't work if we shoot a Rifleman score and remember the good times we had out on the range. It only works if we take that 7th Step and spread the 'seed. HUZZAH!!!"  Slim

April 18-19, 2009  "The seeds of rifle marksmanship were sown in good ground.  In the end, then, every attendee walked away as an instructor for their friends, family, coworkers.  May you tend your patch in Liberty's garden well and through a long life."  Francis Marion

They are also promoting the Boaz shoot for their western KY members.  I connected with Eric Wilson a few weeks ago and it turned out to be timely, since they were wanting to get together with us anyway but didn't quite know who to contact.  Seems that Eric's wife and another gal shot at the Cynthiana Winterseed last December and really enjoyed it.  Eric is recommending to the 912ers that they do Saturday only, but I'm not sure why.  If they do show up, we should really encourage them to come back for Sunday.

Wow, looks like this shoot is almost full!  Huzzah for the 912ers!  My son will also be shooting this one, his first Appleseed.

Does anybody know when we will be getting a SB for Crittenden April 30-May 1?

Also, is the website correct that "We will be shooting full distance at all shoots 300m."?  If so, registrants should be informed that they will need centerfire rifles, with the attendant extra ammo cost.  You can't have people showing up with rimfires and expect them to shoot 300 meters.

And if the 300m is not correct, and the distance will be the usual 25m, then you may have some unhappy attendees who expected to shoot 300m.  Most people in central Kentucky, myself included, rarely have a chance to shoot this far.  So if I went based on shooting at 300m, and found out that we were only shooting 25m, I'd be mighty ticked off.  Just my opinion.

As always .22 is welcome and encouraged.  But there will be a long range component to the weekend on Sunday.

Possibly the EIP should say this? :wall:

Crittenden is one of the only ranges where we have the ability to go to 300m.  This shoot is nearing being sold out, it is a great range with really good people behind us there.

Yes.  The wording "We will be shooting full distance at all shoots 300m." can easily be misconstrued.  The reason I brought it up is that I checked the Crittenden website to make sure that centerfires were allowed before inviting Butch, as he has this thing against rimfires.  When I saw that wording, I saw $ signs since my son will be shooting, and I was thinking I would have to cancel his registration and get him into another shoot that was 25m where he could shoot rimfire.  So it sounds like all is well and all shooters will be happy no matter what they bring.

For the future, you might want to pass along to KY leadership that as part of my Applecore duties I would be more than happy to proof read all public KY information (website, fliers, etc.) for typos and "unclarities" before they go live.  I write well in excess of 100 reports every year as part of my day job and I feel I am quite proficient at this.

So do we have a SB yet?  At this point I am gunshy and would like to know who it is ASAP so I can communicate with him/her.

FYI - I make all the fliers that are attached to the event info pages for KY. If you have any special wording requests for any of those, please let me know.  There's often enough space at the bottom for extra info, etc.

I can be there both days if needed......?
Definitly be there Sunday with my son, he wants to make rifleman....bad!

DryFire

Do we have a SB for this shoot yet? I know I am signed up as an instructor and would prefer to get to work on instructing instead of having to SB, however if no one else is willing/able I can serve as SB.

With 20 shooters and the only instructors signed up so far being andre, dad4boys, Slim (on Sun), and myself, we could still use a couple more. Dad4boys we could certianly use you both days if we don't get anyone else on the schedule.

Thanks,
DryFire
