What a weekend.....

Saturday was cloudy, light breeze...High maybe 60.

14 Americans came out in a cool, breezy day to learn some marksmanship, and hear some history.  After the morning Safety briefing and a bit of history from eaglescouter, we hit the line running.  Ok..maybe a fast walk.  There were 4 or 5 brand new, never shot a rifle before shooters on the line.  One was a 7 yr old little girl.  Mikeee stayed with her and we kept her in prone all day and she had a ball.  Total of 5 youth on the line Saturday.

Students learned and picked up the information from the fire hose and began putting it to use right away. Several returning students began to see quick results.  One gentleman said that what he learned last time was finally sinking in.  Applesauce4360 had made some really nice visuals that were appreciated by staff and students.  Nice work Chris!!

We broke for lunch and began telling the 3 Strikes.  Applesauce4360, told the 1st strike and did a great job for her first time up.  I followed up with the 2nd strike, and BaldDragn rounded things up with the final strike and a powerful closing.

After lunch we resumed the fire hose and got in 1 AQT before the end of the day.  No Rifleman patch awarded but several knocking on the door.

Finished the day with a Red Coat and Benediction.

Sunday......Showery, light breeze in the morning, WINDY!!! in the afternoon.  40mph winds with gusts to 60+ . Rain most of the day.

Well Sunday's forecast was not exactly as predicted....

The morning wasn't bad.  10 shooters on Sunday morning, including 4 youth.
We had light showers off and on in the morning. Light breeze.  Chilly.

Reviewed the information from Saturday and proceeded with the first AQT of the day.

We broke for lunch and telling of a few Dangerous Old Men and Determined Dames.

After lunch, the weather decided to get a bit rougher...rained a bit more and the wind picked up a bit...then the wind really blew....by 3 pm we were unable to keep targets on backers and backers up!!  The high gusts ripped the backers off the T-posts and blew the larger KD targets off...(think one is in Oregon by now).  The final straw was the wind picking up all three tied together ez-ups and trying to make off with them.  We decided to call it a day then.  Did a short (unfortunately) benediction, thanked the shooters for sticking it out.  Did not shoot a final Red Coat.

We did have one returning shooter from October get his second Rifleman score.  Ben, made rifleman on the 100yd advanced in October, scored a nice 213 early in the afternoon.

Everyone had a great weekend.  Most are coming back in May.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.... To the shooters for sticking around and helping us break down and clean up.  You are awesome and hope to see you all again.

Are there going to be any upcoming events in Red Bluff or the surrounding areas? I really like to get my nephews out to one of these events.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!"
