Once again, weather kept the Sunshine Patriots indoors this weekend.  Cold and windy with a high percentage of rain turned our 11 pre reg into 4 attnedees.  They are true patriots and Americans, so on we go.

We had Steve and April on AR-15's and John and Casey on 10-22's.

After the normal Sat COF groups tightened up and we got in an AQT with John scoring a 225.  He was a returning Rifleman and asked to join the Instructor Corps at his first shoot.  Now that he's been back, I'd like to welcome him, again, to the fold

The good thing about shoots with bad weather is that you know who the real Americans are.  Sun brought back the same 4 shooters with lower temperatures and higher winds.  After 3 AQT's we realized that everyone had "hit the wall" and we were turning money into noise.  We shot squares and untimed AQT's the rest of the day.  With a 7-4 Instructor ratio we got in some good 1 on 1 training.

Steve won the "Kill the TV" contest and Casey's persistence earned him the Luther Blanchard Award.

Didn't take too many this time....  Glad to see all the shooters returned on Sunday and hung in there.  Believe it or not, you were praticing what we were teaching but the wind just wasn't going to let your scores show it.  Don't be discouraged.. 

John will have to pose again for his "crowning" picture.

Time spent in the company of Riflemen and Riflemen in the making is a tonic for the spirit.

This weekend was no exception.

With Wind speed averaging 25 mph and regular gusts to almost 50 mph on Sunday, these where challenging conditions. And at other events across the country were weather challenged too. Snow, Subfreezing Temps in the North, Rain and Wind in the West. And everything else in between.

The demonstration of indomitable persistence, flexibility, adaptability and community spirit were a tribute to the people we honor by remembering.

Do you really think that Issac Davis would call off weekly practice because of some inclement weather?

It's always encouraging to see that the American Spirit is till there, it's just needs a nudge to get going And once going, it is as vigorous as it ever was.

Appleseed events are refreshing and restorative to the spirit. I always find myself encouraged and optimistic after spending time in the company of Riflemen.
