Would like to find others who like to reload for 8X57 Mauser and inquire about cast bullet loads, gas checked preferably.

You can PM me of course.

Hey Jimi,

Ar the risk of replying to an old topic, i couldn't help but notice that nobody else did, so, from one 7.92x57 shooter to another here is what i use in my rifles and i have built them up carefully, some are my MAX load and i load to that only for long range stuff.  Otherwise i back it off a quite a bit to go easy on the 70 to 100 year old rifles.

I am a big fan of Hodgdon Varget powder and either the 200gr. Sierra HPBT Match King or the Pervi 198gr FMJBT

Here is what worked in my rifle just as an FYI, and they are all listed on www.Reloadersnest.com under me.

48grs. Varget, 200gr. Sierra HPBT MK (2560 fps) this is where i stopped
46grs. Varget, 200gr. Sierra HPBT MK (2400 fps) Good load for my K98
52grs. H380, 200gr. Sierra HPBT MK (2555 fps)
46.3grs. H4895, 200gr. Sierra HPBT MK (2560 fps) this is where i stopped
44.5grs. H4895, 200gr. Sierra HPBT MK (2450 fps) Good load for my K98

Cheers,
Mauser

I cast myown .323 bullets and lube them with Orange magic from Lyman, and use a 8mm gas check.

Cast 180 grain, and push them with 38.5 grains of IMR4895 for about 1900 FPS.

you can e-mail me for another 150 grain load...  camljr(at)juno(dot)com
