Here's another AAR for the books

Thank you Terrell Texas for a great shoot.

Saturday was a little chilly in the morning but it warmed up nicely.  We had a total of 11 shooters who's ages ranged from teenagers to a few Alarm list fellers.

For Instructors, I had StarFox aka " The Fox " and Charles W.  The Fox has been around and knows the program inside and out.  Charles W just attended an RBC about a week ago and took up an Orange hat.  Both The Fox and I were impressed with Charles performance during this shoot.  He has a thorough understanding of the program.  Have you ever met someone that only needs to hear something explained just once and they remember every detail?  yep, he's one of them kind.  You did a great job Charles, a flawless 2nd Strike,  I look forward to working with you again.

So Saturday, Charles called the line and The Fox and I worked as Instructors.  We had a lot of improvement in just the first day.  When we finished shooting on Saturday, several shooters topped out in the 170's on the AQT.

Sunday was even better because we had a 100% return rate, all 11 shooters were back on the line.  Charles could not stay for Sunday, he explained he was 50% of the Deacons at his church and had to be there.  I'm OK with that.

As the day went on, the scores were getting better and better and The Fox and I had a good feeling about things.  After lunch we got our first Rifleman.  David B who also happens to be a Board member at the Terrell Rifle and Pistol Gun Club.  I believe he scored a 224.

A little later, Bill came in with a 212 and Wayne was next with a 215.  Well done Riflemen  Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

By the end of the weekend everyone had seen some improvement in marksmenship and even better than that, 11 more Americans had the chance to hear the 3 Strikes O0

Thanks to all the shooters, you were a good safe crowd and it was a pleasure to work with you.

Anyone who attended this shoot, please take a little time to thank the Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting this shoot and let them know if you would like to attend another  www.TR-PC.com

Shooters! your comment period begans now!     please feel free to chime in with your comments about the shoot.

Until next time, keep those actions clear and I'll see you on the beach.

This was another great shoot for the DFW area. And FYI, Alfonso is the only one to refer to me as the Fox.  I guess he just likes historical sounding names, so he's putting me in the same category as Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion.  Although, Mel Gibson I ain't.   ;D

On a serious note, it was a great group of shooters who were dedicated to improving their marksmanship and learning their American Heritage.  The Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club were generous hosts, allowing us to set up on the 200 yd range which gave us almost our own little area away from the other ranges.  They definitely have one of the nicest facilities I've seen around.

Saturday, Mark threw Charles the ball in terms of the lion's share of the instruction, and boy did he run with it!  I am happy we have another strong instructor in the DFW area!!   O0

All the shooters were great, and we had four shooters (Bill, Melissa, Kathy, and Tony) who were there after hearing about us at the DIVA AR-15 Clinic at Quail Creek in October.  The DIVA organization graciously allowed us to set up a table at the event for free.  And I don't know what it is about DIVAs, but they certainly like to be challenged.  The AQT is hard enough for new shooters, but to attempt your first Appleseed with a bolt gun is certainly taking the bull by the horns.  First Maggi at the Nov Quail Creek event, and now Melissa at Terrell!   It was great to see Melissa persisting, adapting, and certainly overcoming throughout the weekend.  By the end of the weekend, she was getting smooth with the bolt and will certainly match (and probably exceed) her husband's score soon!!   :---

Our three Riflemen were great, and we had at least three others knocking on the door with consistent scores in the 180s and up.

I will have some pictures up from the event soon.  Not too many as I was being run ragged making sure all our shooters were getting the instruction they deserved. We hope to have a few more shoots at Terrell in 2011!

Yup, in Texas that means it's under 60 degrees!!

Seems like the Alarm List guys are usually out in force. Don't know why we're not getting more youngsters on the line. Guess X-Box or Nintendo or whatever they play these days is soooo much more fun. Maybe we ought to have a deal where shooters under 17 that get the patch also get a free Nintendo?

That can't be Andrew you're talking about. You must mean Lauren, but definitely not Andrew.  ;)

(Just kidding Andrew)

Anyhow sounds like a good shot. See you guys on the trail.

What a great Appleseed!  The shooters all had a fantastic attitude, the range was really well suited to the event, and Alonso and Starfox were great Red Hats to work with.  Congrats to Bill, David, and Wayne for the fine scores!  Based on the shooting that I saw, I suspect that several more will earn the Rifleman patch very soon.

It was a pleasure to spend time with the good folks in Terrell, and I hope that we have another Appleseed there very soon!

Charles,
Thanks for stepping up; it's good to see you here on the forum.  I agree, this looks like it was a great shoot, but in my (limited) experience, they all are!!
I'm looking forward to Athens, TX this weekend, San Angelo the weekend after that.
Hope to see you on the trail, soon!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Alonso1, Starfox, CharlesW for teaching the event. I had a great time( even more than expected), and felt comfortable despite being a new shooter. Also- congrats to the 3 Riflemen! Thanks again,
