Hi, All!

Well, another great shoot at Harvard (complete with some wind and rain - wouldn't be a Harvard shoot without rain!).

We had 15 shooters on Saturday, and 9 returned to brave the chill and rain on Sunday.  No "summer soldiers and sunshine patriots"!

Congratulations to our 4 new Riflemen: Cynthia, Patrick(on his birthday!), Dave and Darren!   ^:)^
And Patrick took an orange hat, which we all know looks best when worn at an Appleseed shoot!  ;)

Going into the weekend, we were short on help, but Matt (MattNES) and Ted (MrBB) manned up and volunteered... and did a GREAT job instructing! O0

Jeremy, a brand new IIT, who shot his rifleman score just last month, ran the line all Sunday. Way to go!

It's ALWAYS wonderful to see families at Appleseeds.  Jon, Ryan and Zack and Rich and Paul(who kept focused all through Sunday!), I hope this was an event you will remember for long time.

Thanks to all the instructors and IITs for the great work! And thanks to all you shooters, for your positive attitude and perseverance!

Here are some photos from both days:

Some more pictures...

An unusual place for a name tag, but it works...

Rifleman Patrick - he'll be taking an Orange Hat

As will Rifleman Dave

It's Harvard... of COURSE it rained! Rifleman Dave wrings out his Winchester M1 Carbine

Rifleman Cynthia chased that patch for three shoots - and caught it! Check out the smiles on her AND Shoot Boss Luv2BFree!!

And Rifleman Darren makes four!

Young Paul, at his first shoot, his first time shooting a rifle, persisted and brought his group sizes down. He kept at it all weekend, never complaining of the cold, or, on Sunday, about the rain - he just kept plugging away. Hope to see you back, Paul! (and being as his father is my Lodge Brother, I know where to find him!)

Check out the wheel tracks in the dirt - IIT MrBB running his first line may have been sitting but he definitely was all over the line. He didn't let the dirt slow him down. Although he did have to think a bit when someone asked him about the steady hold factors for prone, as he only shoots seated...  ;)

Seen on the line this weekend: a Marlin(?) 995, a couple of T/C Silver Lynxes (which, I might add, did not like the dirt of the Harvard range ONE BIT), a Savage MKII, the requisite 10/22s, a couple of AR-15s (one of which explained to it's owner that it did NOT like steel-cased ammo!) and an M1 Carbine.

Another good shoot in the books for the Harvard crew and another Shoot Boss, as this was Luv2BFree's second outing as Shoot Boss In Training. The spirit of 1775 is NOT dead in Massachusetts, not when we've got the kind of crew we have. Slowly but surely we're growing a full crop of Red Hats & SBs here.
Unhappy it is ... to reflect that a brother's sword has been sheathed in a brother's breast, and that the once happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by slaves. Sad alternative! But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?
