Hi Everyone,

Upfront, just let me say that I thought the Waterman 300 was awesome! O0  What an historic event.  Thank you sincerely to everyone who worked and participated! 8)

In the spirit of civic duty, and hopefully without opening up a thread on political debate, I am looking for information to help base sound voting decisions in the upcoming elections.  In particular, I would like to find information on candidates 2nd Amendment stances: pro gun v. anti-gun.  I have combed the ISRA website and can't find much information except for names of sponsors on bills.  Does anyone know where to go to find info like this (or for other positions as well).  Does the ISRA specifically back any candidates?  Any suggestions a/o links would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Gravy.

Check out the NRA; specifically if you have Facebook they publish the candidates they endorse on a regular basis.

It's funny how things sometimes just happen.  I'm reading mail today and what do you think lands in my hands?  How about a letter from the ISRA with a list of all their pro-gun candidate endorsements!  Fantastic.  I googled the group and you can find the lists here:

You can also fish around on this website for more info:

http://www.gunssavelife.com/GunNews/October2010.pdf  (recognise anything about the front page?)   GSL is by far the best "state" (it is really local with a statewide -ish distribution.  Someone else could describe it better than I) association.  10,000 papers a month (last count I heard).

Several of their members and officers are Instructors here.

"Congress" is on the pull down menu at the top.

Whenever I think I smell a traitor, I check "its" 2nd amendment voting record here. The correlations are typically astounding.

Tanks LTR and Guy.  Both are great references.  From the gunowners.org sight, found this page to click on individual states:

I now have printed copies from all these resources and can cross-reference candidates.  These are a tremendous help.  I can't wait for the elections - judging by the changing tide in other states, I get the impression our votes might actually matter this year.

Cheers to Change! (pun intended) ^-^

Having seen a couple of the NRA endorsements, I would never use their endorsement as the 'reason' to vote for a candidate.  I'm actually quite frightened by some of the candidates that the NRA 'endorses.'  The NRA forgets that there is more to the Bill of Rights than the 2nd Ammendment, and actually ignores/avoids any issue that doesn't directly affect them or the 2A (the 'disclose act' is a good example of this, and I know many NRA members who terminated their membership because of the NRA stance on it).  You should look at a candidates voting history regarding EVERYTHING and not just the 2A, as the erosion of all of our OTHER rights is a lead-in to the removal of our 2A rights.

No matter how you vote, who you vote for, vote your conscience.  Remember we have a responsibility to not only defend our 2A rights, but to defend the entire Bill of Rights.
Your version of "ineffective" does not necessarily reflect the truth....
Having been "ineffectively" taught to the Rifleman Standard and having been "ineffectively" taught to teach others to the Rifleman Standard, I believe I prefer the "ineffective" over the other choice.

We will make this quick JustJeff,,

#1, First and foremost, WE ALL NEED TO VOTE. That message is what brought me to Appleseed. BE ACTIVE IN THE SELECTION, otherwise, shut up.

#2, Save your Nation by first saving your neighborhood, then your town, then your county..... etc etc etc. By being active in the political process.

#3, Appleseed does not push candidates, NRA does, so does GOA, etc etc. We, as part of the Appleseed Fabric, do not promote candidates, BUT, we are here to combat Ignorance, Apathy, and Laziness.

I think we have Apathy covered better than any other election in decades. But Ignorance..... Well that can only be cured with an informed populace. We have a SC Judge up for re-election in IL, the hard core conservative want to vote him out do to siding with some serious vermin. The local sheriff's and prosecutors are supporting him.... Who do you believe? LEARN THE FACTS BEFORE YOU VOTE!!!

YOU BELIEVE YOURSELF!!!!! AFTER YOU HAVE INFORMED YOURSELF WITH ALL THE CRAP FLYING AROUND. At that point, you are not longer ignorant, you are informed, and all that is left is Apathy, and Laziness.

Do You Care???? Will you get off the couch and do your civic duty and vote???? IT DOES MATTER!!!!

I know what you may be thinkin'. You may be thinkin' that someone around here (not in IL) once mentioned that voting was a waste of time............... BAM!!!! See what happens when you bring ignorance and apathy back into the equation????

This does happen unfortunately, it's kinda sorta like voter burnout.

YOUR JOB AS A SEVENTH STEPPIN' APPLESEEDER, is to shake these folks out of that apathetic mindset and get them voting!!!

Is voting the primary focus of Appleseed???? Not really-ish, but those months when there is a primary or full election.... you should be promoting the process in a nice, non-confrontational/non-political manner

Start with those on your side...ish..... the first one doubles your vote >:D
