7th Stepping: Calendar of Event Webpages for Nevada Cities

It is important to publicize our shoots.

Please see the list below of online community calendars and newspapers. For each of Nevada's upcoming shoots, choose a calendar (or five) from the list below and create a listing for our shoot on that site, presuming it doesn't already have one. Don't know what to write? That's okay; just copy and paste information over from the shoot's event information page! If you don't see a way to add an event yourself, use the "contact us" link to send a message with information about the event to the web masters.

Thank you for helping us get the word out about Nevada shoots!

P.S. If you discover a broken link, send me the broken link and, if you can find it, a good link for that site and I will update this list. Any and all additions are appreciated too.

Thanks for the list. That's a long List. Time to grab buckets.

I think that we will need to divide and conquer to minimize confusion, and duplication of efforts.

How about we split the list with all cities south of line drawn between Beatty and Mesquite are Southern Nevada
The Northern Nevada Promotional team can handle everything north of the same line.

It's seems strange to use a geographical demarcation for an internet boundary, but I guess that I'm just old school.

Once we get a canned piece of calendar verbiage, we should be able to knock this list out pretty quick.

I like your divide and conquer approach. You're right, this will help us not to duplicate our efforts. I'm not sure where Beatty and Mesquite are! I need a map! haha. I'm going to start with the Reno, Sparks, Carson and Douglas ones for now and then I'll bust out the map for the rest. As far as canned calendar verbiage, can we just use the event information page? Or do you think we need something else? If you think we need something else, whip up a snippet for Southern Nevada and I'll adapt it for Northern Nevada use. Sound good?

It is much appreciated. We're few in number in Nevada Appleseed, but we're motivated!

The mentioned pretty wells covers Clark County plus Parumph.

Curious, has anyone explored the free event postings pages on some local television stations' web sites to announce an Appleseed event in the coverage area? It appears to be free to list. Locally, WRGB-TV and WXXA-TV both allow users to post announcements for their events. Other tv stations throughout the country may also offer this service. (http://events.cbs6albany.com/listings and http://www.fox23news.com/ugc/cat/communitycalendar/default.aspx) Yahoo also allows users to post events. (http://upcoming.yahoo.com/) Has this been checked out for announcing Appleseed events?

How many people read these event postings, I don't know. It sure is different than the usual places such as gun stores, sporting goods departments at chain stores, gun shows, and cork board thumb tack postings.

Just something that popped into my head while checking local news online...

I've emailed Lou twice to request another free table for Appleseed in the lobby. He has done this for us two shows in a row now, so I'm pretty optimistic. I've also filled out the online table request form. Hopefully he'll be able to respond soon! I'll let ya know!

You rock GG! I think if we aim for either of the shows in the Spring, having the table already approved will be a good thing to do in advance. Based on how Lou responded to our gracious 'thank you' from the summer, I have every reason to think Appleseed would be welcomed again.
