Hello, I'm new here. From Oklahoma and intending to attend the Appleseed clinic in Eureka on August 14 and 15. I haven't seen any discussion about this one, and the Preregistration Thread says that there's 0 people registered. Is this shoot going to happen?

I'd go the the one in Chickasha the weekend before, but I'm already busy that weekend.

PS, I'm already going to bring a good friend and shooting buddy with me. We've been talking about this for the past month since we found out about Appleseed.

No worries, Grendel....it'll happen. Sometimes just takes a while for folks to sign up. I"ve got several folks who are going, they just haven't registered yet.

If you have any questions, drop me a PM....I'm the BOTG for Eureka.

Grendel, Eureka is a great place to start Appleseed.
The Kansas crew is outstanding.
Oklahoma will have more shoots on the schedule before long for you as well.

ksuguy

Its pretty common for people to wait until a few days before to sign up.  Hope to see you out there in August.  Be sure to bring lots of water and a sun shade if you have one.

Ben,
The range at Eureka and Accommodations are superb.  Eureka should be a required stop for an Appleseed Travel Award.  And, you folks put on a great show.

So, I looked at the pre-reg list tonight.  If I may suggest ...
stop in at NAPA Auto and talk with Josh.
and, the Wally World Wannabee store on the curve headed out to the Flint Hills Family Christian Camp.  What was her name, Margaret?
... and the Mexican Food restaurant and the cafe just down the road from it,  ... Eureka is blessed with good people with good attitudes.

Anyway, she and Josh and lots of other folks in town heard you and Dinky on the radio Tuesday during RBC.  We left trifolds everywhere we went for all of them to hand out.  Everyone in town I spoke with seemed real receptive to Appleseed.  So, follow up with them.

Talk with our new IIT, Jason.  He has lots of friends his age who will want to come now that he has done it.  And, his dad, Iceman, there's a guy who knows lots of people.

And, ksguy, I bet you know a ton of folks in the Wichita area.
GPBiker, ][rishman (and, I apologize if I forgot anyone) ya'll all know folks near where you live.

And, your state Rep Forrest Knox ... invite him and his family and staff to shoot.  He said he would like to come back and do that.  Sounded genuine to me.

Ya'll get back on the radio next week.  That seemed to work well.

Lots of ideas for YA'LL to carry out  ^-^
You will do well.  Thanks for all ya'll are doing.

Ok, I'm registered. Hopefully my shooting buddy will register tomorrow.

Do we need to bring our own canopy? And are we able to arrive the evening before? Also, how far out does this range go? It was a little unclear reading about it.

ksuguy

If you have a canopy, it would be good if you can bring it.   We have a few, but the more shade we can get out there the better.   We like to have enough to cover the line, and also have some shade back off the line with the chairs and equipment.

I think you can arrive the night before and camp out there or use one of the cabins, but I think there is a small fee you have to pay to the guy that runs the camp if you do that.   Ben would be able to answer that better than I could.

The range is 25 meters.  There is also a longer range out in a pasture by Eureka that they used during the riflemen boot camp last month, but I don't think we'll be using that during the weekend.

4bfox

Hi....$5.00 range fee for both days, $10 for staying in one of the cabins (there are a couple with A/C) Friday and Saturday. Includes swimming pool, we usually grill Saturday night.

I'm planning on staying there at least Saturday night, possibly Friday night (depending on how late it is when I could get there).  Ben, could you get me on the list for a bunk?  Anyone else staying out there?

Sign me up as staying in a cabin  and I am planning on being there both Friday and Saturday evenings. Will the pool still be open??

I'm coming up Friday evening. Bringing at least my Dad and a good friend with me. May have a third friend also.

Who else is staying out there? I guess the instructors are wimping out and going to eat in dinner in town in the air conditioning... **)

My group is planning on grilling out Saturday evening.

Also my dad has a stock pile of .22lr ammo, mostly the Federal bulk packs you get at Wal-Mart. If anyone needs or wants to buy some ammo, let me know and I'll have him bring it up. (think it's mostly loose in .30 or .50 ammo cans)

ksuguy

I'll be out there this weekend too.  Hopefully the cool front will move in before Saturday.

Glad to hear you are bringing some people, the more the better.   Also, as an added incentive, I always let anybody that shoots their first rifleman score fire a clip through one of my M1 Garands as a prize.

Now that is an incentive. I'm sure I'm such a terrible shot that I won't make it though.  :-[

I'm probably going to leave the 91/30 at home since we'll be packed to gills with other rifles as it is. We'll all be bringing .22s and a bigger center fire rifle each also. Sounds like it will be a veritable smorgasbord of rifles to have some fun with.

jollybfd

So when are you Friday people planning on getting there?  I figure I'll come out Friday if I can get there before dark.

We're going to leave Tulsa by 5pm. Should be there by 7:30.

We'll take care of you guys....yes, pool is open. Sorry I didn't reply sooner...school is about to start and they're running me crazy. The Appleseed will be a nice diversion!

Hey Pop.....I'm just glad we had the RBC when we did.....104° today! RBC will be in May next year, if I have anything to do with it....

And it does look like it'll "cool off" about 10° by the weekend....phew. Never thought I'd look forward to 95° as a "cool front"!

Huh, nice place. Kind of lonely though. Where's everyone else who was going to come out Friday?

4bfox

I think most of them are showing up this morning (Saturday).

Crippled Eagle

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how does one find out when an Appleseed event is being held in Eureka?
I'm considering attending one weekend soon when I can get away.
I also need to know what is required to come and what one needs to bring.
Thanks!
