I think is is time to get the good folks in Southern Illinois off the couch.  Southern Illinois is really lagging behind Northern Illinois.  Yeah I know most of the population in Illinois is in the northern part of the state but I bet ya most of the gun owners are in the southern part of the state. Most every kid over the age of 8 has a .22 rifle.  I have even heard that they even bring them to school for show and tell.  With only four (4) shoots in the southern part of the state vs. 20 plus in the northern part of the state its time for a change!

There is still time this year, I believe with your help, to wake up some of the good folks in Southern Illinois  There was a good response at the Belleville gun show in May with Castle Mountain, Patriot Gal, Missouri Brigade and Jungle George getting the Appleseed message out.  ALTON Appleseed was a sell out.  There are 3 Appleseed Events left this year with the next being the shoot At Carmi, Il. July 10-11.

There is a really good web site that has 2500 members of good Southern Illinois Outdoor folks and gun owners.

http://www.siloutdoors.com/

Most of them have never heard of Appleseed unless they have been to the Belleville gun show.

Mudcat is going to be the Shoot Boss at the Carmi shoot and he joined me on the forum ( I am signed on as Bowfisher) trying to get a full line at Carmi. Would you join us and register and post some of your good experiences or maybe post a picture of an Appleseed event.  If we could get just a couple of the SILO members to the Carmi Appleseed and post their good experiences of attending an Appleseed event, the Sparta and Marion events will be sell outs.

There is alive chat on Tuesday and Thursday evening to to help get the message out

Thanks for you help

HI. OuttaAmmo.  I'm new to the Appleseed concept and am going to the Osage Beach Appleseed this weekend for my first Appleseed  This is where I hope to learn more about Appleseed and meet some of the members.  I have a good feeling about Appleseed but I'm the kind of person who needs to check things out for myself.  I live in southern Illinois.  And I couldn't agree more about the need to have more people in this part of the state become active in the sport of shooting.  If Osage Beach turns out like I think it will, I'll be at Carmi and Sparta, and will also get up to an event or two in northern Illinois.  Best, Mathias.

Now, Bowfisher, you know we don't take our guns to school.  ;D  But you're right about the amount of gun owner % per population, I bet it is a lot higher south of I-64 than it is north and there should be more events down here.

I'm kinda surprised there's not an event in either Cape Girardeau, Missouri or Paducah, Kentucky.

We have shoots in Boaz KY. just south of Paducah.

An inherent problem with Southern Illinois is that many of the folks just go out on to there own land and shoot.

What Appleseed needs, what the folks in Southern Illinois need are dedicated Appleseed rifle ranges made possible
by such folks dedicating some of their land for such a noble purpose of helping to save America.
That is how Ossage beach came into existence like  so many other DAR's accross this nation.

Find it, let us know and we will come and help. This is true of local rifle ranges also. We are limited
by what is available. The solution lays with the good folks in Southern Illinois.

It is like FIELD OF DREAMS..... "build it and we will come."

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."  one who has not qualified himself with the M-16 may not be considered to be a responsible citizen."

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in

I wanted to come down there this weekend but family will be in from out of town. But let's say south of I-72 that would include me;).
